As our time at the NC Mountain State Fair draws to a close, I want to take a moment to highlight someone special I had the pleasure of meeting and now consider a friend: Mr. Glenn Lamb. Many of you who attended the fair might recognize him or have even had the joy of chatting with him. Regardless of the weather—be it rain or shine—Mr. Glenn was always seen roaming the fairgrounds, fully embracing everything the fair has to offer. Each day, he would stop by for a can of Mountain Dew, and if he didn’t, he always made it a point to greet me. Through these daily conversations, I discovered that he is not only a regular patron but has been doing this for over 20 years. If you spot Mr. Glenn walking through the fairgrounds, take a moment to say hello.

Looking forward of being apart of the festivities!

Calling all craft enthusiasts and culture lovers!

The John C. Campbell Folk School's renowned Fall Festival is back for its 48th year! Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 5th and Sunday, October 6th, from 10 am to 5 pm each day.

This beloved festival is a celebration of everything Appalachian: from handcrafted goods by talented artisans to toe-tapping music and lively dance performances. It's a chance to immerse yourself in the rich culture and heritage of the region.

Tickets are on sale now online at https://www.folkschool.org/events/fall-festival/ ! Admission is just $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and veterans, and free for children under 12. Don't miss out on this chance to experience the best of Appalachia!
