New theatre chairs in at the lodge! Improvements continue during the downtime!

Quick picture: paint and wall repair continues during the pandemic. Almost done. Interior totally finished. Just missing dancers!

I think I speak for many of us that one of the less discussed aspects of this year is the lack of hugs, dances, embraces that would surely be beneficial in this crazy season.

Looking forward to a lodge full of dancers when it’s safe to do so!

Feb work update: Probably one more coat of exterior paint and a little bit of exterior trim left. Inside I'm still hunting more old theatre chairs or a nice church pew to replace the "well loved" couch that still remains. Any tips or leads on either is appreciated.

We greatly desire more blueberry bushes planted along the rivers edge near the bridge as they were unfortunately removed by a landscaper that made a mistake. If anyone knows of good ones or could help with re-planting this spring we'd be thankful!

Spring update: foundation repair complete! 🙌Almost done with updates to electrical now. No more drop cords!!

Rain run off trench was also finished last week so grass should drain better.

More to come, hope the most beautiful old dancehall in the south is there for years to come!

Also, we did add more blueberry bushes in the corner.

Winter work: stage!

Finally putting in insulation behind and under the stage. What’s always been the coldest stage in the south may be a bit warmer when we’re done! The arctic blast that hits the callers may be gone if we can get the insulation blown underneath like we plan. Trim and new foundation supports and wall repairs will continue throughout Jan and feb. thank your being patient and dancing around our construction!

A little work update: It looks like we've finally sealed the roof. The leaks are gone! Wall repair is complete on two sides and we'll begin work on the wall and joist repair facing the main door this winter. Am also going to finally wall in the space above the door to the ladies restroom. You may have noticed but we did a saturday work day and replaced about 25 strands of dead twinkle lights so it should be brighter. Lastly, we made a fun purchase and bought four old seats from an old theatre in Asheville from 1925. They'll be installed this weekend and should be ready to go for the next dance. Enjoy and let us know if there is anything else we need to fix. Keep on dancin!!! - Kenneth

50 likes, thanks FB! Restoration work continues but our team is taking a summer break to beat the heat. More improvements to come this fall! As always, check with HMFS to catch a contra dance at the prettiest little dance hall in the south!
