If you see individuals with anxiety and/or OCD, this workshop is a must! This workshop is also a requirement of being a Certified ERP ("CERP") therapist. Current research regarding anxiety and OCD has dramatically changed the treatment paradigms for these disorders over the past couple of decades, particularly with Dr. Michelle Craske's research on Inhibitory Learning, utilizing ACT along with ERP, and cutting-edge research on Memory Reconsolidation.

We will review very specific and tailored treatments to be utilized with specific OCD presentations and specific anxiety diagnoses. For example, we will discuss the application of Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) in the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorders and Interoceptives in the treatment of Panic Disorder and why these approaches are the gold standard in evidence-based treatment in order to achieve long-term benefits. Additionally, many of the anxiety and OC spectrum disorders have unique response system cycles, which also need to be addressed, particularly when the compulsions are entirely mental.

Participants will walk away with several new approaches that they can use immediately with their clients in order to facilitate maximum treatment potential with the most up-to-date treatment modalities.

Up to 40% of individuals with OCD will experience obsessions about their own sexual orientation or gender identity. Historically, clinicians have been trained to believe that the content of OCD obsessions is irrelevant and that all OCD themes can be treated the same. This blanket approach to ERP risks applying treatment in a way that could further marginalize LGBTQIA+ individuals by reinforcing harmful stereotypes and identity-related stigma. A justice-based approach to ERP ensures that all impacted persons – client, provider, and society – are considered and respected in treatment. This workshop will describe sexual orientation and gender-themed OCD and compare and contrast justice-based ERP with other historical (mis)uses of ERP for these themes. The workshop will provide examples of exposure hierarchies, imaginal exposure scripts, core fears, etc., that will leave clinicians well-equipped to use justice-based ERP with their clients with sexual orientation and gender-themed OCD. Early price ends THIS FRIDAY, January 3rd at 5:00pm Eastern Time!

Do you feel equipped to establish a culturally healthy and intentional supervision practice that fosters a deeper connection between you and your supervisees, as well as between your supervisees and their clients? Dr. Ojelade is known for creating an enriching, profound experience in her workshops. If your intention is to become a better supervisor, you’ve come to the right place. It is particularly ideal for supervisors interested in understanding what it means to develop a decolonial, culturally relevant, and ethically sound approach to clinician development. We will explore issues of power differentials, intersectionality, and boundary setting and assist attendees with building the skills for developing impactful working relationships with their supervisees. Keeping in mind the life cycle of supervision, attendees will learn to intentionally develop collaborative supervision contracts, feedback, remediation, and termination practices.

12/26/2024

Therapeutic Parenting is a trauma-informed approach for families struggling with behaviors that impact their lives, relationships, and well-being. It is rooted in principles of brain and nervous system development, relational neuroscience, and trauma recovery. While not all challenging behaviors can be traced to a traumatic event, many families will benefit from therapeutic parenting practices due to the challenges showing up at home, at school, and/or in the community, where "nothing else works." In this workshop, participants will learn therapeutic parenting principles using Amy Bryant’s Therapeutic Parenting workbook to create a personalized, in-depth roadmap that helps decrease challenging behaviors and increase alliances that promote healthy relationships, prosocial interactions, and life skills.

Movies and media, in general, are important agents of socialization and reflect the social, political, and cultural values of a particular time period. "Barbie" earned more than $1.45 billion worldwide to become the highest-grossing film ever from a female filmmaker at the domestic box office and is the largest worldwide film release of 2023. Given its incredible success and its obvious exploration of gender dynamics and patriarchy, it seems pertinent for clinicians to explore the psychological underpinnings of the film, uncover how the themes about gender, power, and systemic injustice relate to personal identity, as well as consider its relevance for psychotherapeutic work. In this workshop, we will explore particular moments in the film that highlight social and gendered issues to understand how we can have these culturally informed discussions to help empower and liberate clients from oppressive systemic pressures and inequities. Circus Arts Therapy has been utilized to help a wide variety of clients, including those with sensory, attention, and learning differences. It applies to neurotypical, neurodiverse, and physically diverse clients and their families. The Circus Arts Therapy program's evidence-based benefits include increased emotional control, teamwork, and physicality (strength, flexibility, and coordination). Therapists will be able to add this to their toolbox and use it in individual, sibling, partner, family, and group sessions. This training includes how trauma-informed teaching and therapeutic language are utilized in the Circus Arts Therapy® room. Therapists will become acquainted with individual, partner, and group juggling to use in therapy.

12/12/2024

B**M and intimate partner violence (IPV) both represent interpersonal experiences; however, these distinct concepts must not be confused. The profound differences in the psychological impact of these are often misunderstood or overlooked. Consensual power exchange (CPE) and B**M represent negotiated interactions with mutually constructed boundaries and an option to cease. By contrast, IPV determines to terrorize and control the subject outside of the understood relational agreement, with no option to cease. This session will introduce these concepts and discuss techniques for assessing the distinction in the therapy setting. We will also address the challenging situation in which this distinction may be unclear and the difficult roles of coercion, unspoken expectations and demands, and unclear consent in all relationships. This workshop will challenge participants to assess their own assumptions about diversity in sexual expression and how this may enter the room with them.
