Iโm rested-up.
So Thursdayโs show went over pretty well! There was a full house at The Parlor Theater in the Doolin Center, New Martinsville.
Earlier in the day, Elisabeth, Ethan, and Lucas rode up with me. We ate late a lunch at Quinetโs Court Restaurant with some of the other magi, but Nick Eaton hadnโt made it to town yet.
Bless their hearts, Biff and the boys piddled-away their afternoon waiting for the 7:00 show. But, their love and support was much appreciated by yours truly. Ethan commented that it was like, โOld timesโ when he and Biff would travel to shows with me at schools, festivals, and on The Valley Gem.
The show started at about 7:10 when everyone that could be seated, were. It ran till almost 9:30!
Four different performers, with four completely different styles took the audience on a journey of mirth, amazement, wonder, history, emotions and a hint of danger. It was magical!
This was all strung together by myself as emcee and Charleen aiding & abetting both onstage and off!
Bill Stokes started us off with some classical magic, involving producing colorful silks and clever misdirection. It set the mood for wonder & laughter.
Michael Strough messed with peoples minds, made some incredible predictions, and supplied the danger element.
We had an intermission, and when we came back Joe Hindman, โInternational Man of Mysteryโ, took us on a voyage of wonder, whimsy, and imagination. Joe had the audience in the palm of his hand!
Nick Eaton was our last performer. Being the youngest of us all, didnโt prevent him from performing some amazing feats of manipulation! To top it off, he demonstrated his skill at juggling and the seldom-seen art of plate-spinning. Even involving an audience member in the routine!
My job as emcee was to keep the ball rolling. So I did not do a โsetโ like the other guys. I merely filled in with a few โbitsโ as they reset behind the curtain.๏ฟผ I tied-in my magic with the performer I was about to introduce. A smooth segue from one to another. Then, putting a final โtug on the heart-stringsโ as a finale.
We received a LOT of good feedback! Live entertainment isโฆalive & well in New Martinsville, WV.
But not only there. Cleveland and northeast Ohio where Nick is from. Nagoya, Japan where Joe lives. Michael performs up & down the Ohio Valley. As do Bill & Charleen! And yes, maybe even in Marietta.
It was a delight to see many familiar faces in the crowd after the show! For me personally; Trent Elliott, Angela Williams, Kathleen Boggs, Christina & James Turner, and Dale Wheeler. I appreciated you being there. ๐
