Kayla and Xavier had a beautiful March wedding almost 2 years ago . I remember each couple I photograph (which in 16 years is ALOT). Couples are always surprised but I am sharing their whole wedding day with them. I get to hear the toasts and meet their family and close friends. Then, I re-live their day while I am editing. ♥️ Many keep in-touch through the years and are some of my biggest cheerleaders. After the storm, I was blown away by how many couples checked in on my family. Even couples that had questions about their upcoming weddings (or change of plans) started emails out being concerned about my family and our well being. What I have learned with all of this is that PEOPLE ARE GOOD. Not until about 2 years ago did I start my Instagram page for my business because I was always so busy with everything else. I so wish I would have done it sooner! I love seeing the lives of my past and future couples!!

Today I think about how special and Lake Lure are to my husband and I. I was still in college. 19 years ago we rode our motorcycles around the area looking for our wedding location. We stopped by and took the first picture on the Rocky Broad with our old digital camera while in Chimney Rock. Being from IL, I really didn’t know much about the area. Chris, being a local, knew all the great outdoor locations! We happened on Rumbling Bald and decided it was the perfect spot for our own wedding. We got married a year later. There were no smart phones, wedding photographers did not offer digital images, and Facebook had only just came out for college students only! Here are some some random photos from almost 18-19 years ago!!😮

The Rocky Broad in Chimney Rock as I knew it……😞 This was the first time I had met Ali and Steve! Ali was rock hoping so easily and I was very impressed!! 😊 I am pretty sure I almost fell into the water too, trying to get the perfect shot!

When you see a picture of yourself doing what you do! I had no idea Chris took this picture of me. I know how happy I am when I am photographing a wedding. I just had no idea I am always smiling! 🤣
