Sad.

This huge tree toppled over at the Amigo Stage area of the Mariposa County Fairgrounds, knocking out power and doing some other damage. High winds whipped up overnight and rain is expected for the next two days, along with snow in the higher elevations. Local emergency officials are asking that people be aware of their surroundings and take extra care when driving.

Cosmic Twang will be playing at this year's festival on Saturday, July 7th! Scott Law, Ross James and company play all over with a lot of people (Phil Lesh, Dave Schools, etc); they founded supergroup Cosmic Twang to showcase their immense talents and push the jams they love best. Hailing from the North Bay, their homebase is Lesh’s Terrapin Crossroads, but their touring prowess and distinct styles is making waves from here to Europe. We're so excited to have The Atomic Sherpas play at this year's festival on Saturday, July 7th! They just keep going and and getting better. The Sherpas are the real deal. There are always bands that capture the primal spirit of a music festival and the Sherpas have embodied that beast for our event since their first performance years ago. Their polyrhythmic enchantments of funk, jazz, classic rock and old school punk blend will surely be something revitalizing to your palate of musical experiences. We love Strange Vine and so will you! Come out to see this amazing band at this year's festival on Friday, July 6th! Strange Vine is a psyche-blues rock duo from the Fresno area. Having toured nationally (recently with the legendary Robin Trower) and internationally over the last decade, their bold and dynamic sound will surely be a treat for YMF goers. From their website: “Ian Blesse plays drums and Rhodes piano (simultaneously), while Toby Cordova fleshes out the songs with a rotating arsenal of guitars (including one made from a cigar box). We are so excited to have one of the most accomplished and interesting musicians to ever come to Mariposa at this year's Yosemite Music Festival on Friday, July 6th! Ian Moore brings a pedigree of Texas guitar slinger legend status by way of Seattle and mind bending contemporary rock. His roots run as deep as the many genres he defines and defies. His sounds bend from Beatles Peppers to Texas soul to hard psyche and every note of Americana in between. Having once toured with The Rolling Stones and participated in a groundbreaking musical awakening to Austin’s SXSW for years and years, Ian also is beloved in the West Coast scene touring often from Seattle into the heart of the redwoods in Big Sur and all points in-between. We are truly lucky to have a man of his enormous talent, a living legacy, come to YMF!

Don't miss Earth Girl Helen Brown playing at this year's festival on Friday, July 6th! Rumor has it, the band was conceived by Sonny Smith as part of an art project where he sent band names to friends. The resulting collaboration involved members of The Sandwitches (a great SF band), The Dry Spells, Three Leafs, Sonny and the Sunsets, Citay and more. Perhaps they could be called a cosmic country band for interplanetary agents of change, or maybe an art rock band with a noble purpose - to transform the space for the good of the planet- nevertheless this band of musical geniuses will assemble and give a musical offering not to be missed and in perfect form with our mission to bring eclectic and diverse talents to Mariposa!
