We had the pleasure of giving a behind the scenes tour to some members of the Iowa Supreme Court while they were in town for oral arguments.
Arguments take place tonight in Marshalltown at the Performing Arts Center at 7 pm and allow for communities to see the court in action. ⚖️

Happy 184th birthday to artist, Claude Monet!
You might ask, how is Monet related to Marshalltown?

Claude Monet, the father of Impressionism, once had one of his masterpieces on display at the Marshalltown Arts and Civic Center. The painting was purchased by Bill and Dorothy Fisher and was proudly displayed in the lobby for 29 years before it was cut from the frame and stolen! Local PD, the FBI, and even Interpol were on the hunt to recover this piece. Check out the news articles to read more about Monet as an artist and what ever happened to the painting. Stop in to the MACC to see a replica of the work, along with the current exhibit in the Fisher Art Museum.
Can you imagine? A piece of art history, right here in Marshalltown... suddenly gone!

Today we take a moment to honor Martha-Ellen (Fisher) Tye! Born on November 1, 1909, she is a true champion of the arts and her community in Marshalltown. We thank her for adding the Martha-Ellen Tye Playhouse to our facility and for all the relationships she fostered. She was not just an observer of the arts; she actively participated in promoting them and invested in her community, young people, and innovative ideas. Happy Birthday!
