Open to the public again on Wednesday.

Since Russian troops invaded their neighbors to the west almost three years ago, a committed group of area residents has stepped up to provide support for Ukrainians displaced by the war and has even assisted a handful of refugee families with resettling here in Marshall County. ♥️3 days • 18 hours • 59 students💙
This time spent at the MACC was organized by the Marshalltown Community School District. All 7th & 8th grade students were invited to apply to the Young Global Leaders Program, instructed by Harvard. 59 students made the commitment to level-up their leadership!

Students engaged in teambuilding activities and worked in groups to develop a plan to solve current local issues, ranging from pollution, mental health, abandoned buildings, and immigration education. At the end of day 3, they presented their plans to their families and local community leaders. We can’t wait to see how they implement these plans outside of the classroom!!

Thank you to WHO 13 News for making a trip to Marshalltown to highlight the powerful art exhibit,
War Through the Eyes of Children.

This 22 piece exhibit highlights humanity and how connected we all truly are. Beginning with efforts from Councilman Ladehoff (pictured) and many other volunteers led by Carrie Barr, this project got off the ground. Each piece was crafted by a young artist in Ukraine, a Sister City of Marshalltown, and reflects their experience with the ongoing conflict in their region.

The exhibit is free and open to the public during the hours below. If a piece resonates with you, don’t miss the live auction on January 31st! All proceeds will be donated to relief efforts in Ukraine. 🇺🇦

🖼️ 🎨 Year 2 of Classical Splash underway at the MACC! 2 days, 14 hours of touring, 780 students, WOW!

Through this program, all Marshalltown 5th and 6th grade students heard a piece of classical music, performed by the Marshalltown High School Orchestra, and then toured the Fisher Art Museum.

Now, students will be given a canvas to make their splash on and create their interpretations of the music to bring their senses to life! This will take place at the school during class time with the guidance and support of their talented art teacher, Nicholas Beard. These pieces will then be narrowed down to 40 winners through a series of judging, and recognized with an award during a formal ceremony at the MACC in April.

We’re grateful for the partnership with the Marshalltown Community School District to enhance exposure of the arts!

An insider look at what is happening with Arts and Culture in Marshalltown through the lens of the Arts + Culture Alliance.
And, how appropriate that this was filmed in our very own Martha-Ellen Tye Playhouse, 1 of 4 projects that will have an opportunity to be updated to a safe accessible space through the Arts + Culture Alliance’s work with the Linn Creek District development plan. We are grateful for their leadership. Awesome job to all involved!
