Best Wishes to Emma and Daniel, whose wedding took place Saturday, December 7th at Peirce Farm at Witch Hill in Topsfield, MA. The couple connected online and quickly found that they had a lot in common. They dated steadily for four years, moved in together shortly before the pandemic, and were pleased to discover that cohabitation made them even more confident that their relationship was built to last. After another four years, Daniel surprised Emma with a proposal during a visit to an Escape Room where their task was to find – conveniently – a hidden diamond!
One of the things Emma and Daniel liked most about Peirce Farm was the rustic, beautiful hearth in the ceremony space. They wanted it to be part of their wedding, so we designed a ritual where – just before they said “I do,” they lit candles to represent their individual lives and then used the candles to ignite a fire in the hearth, to represent their union. The ceremony also included two readings, including this one, from “Wide Awake” by Hilary T. Smith. “People are like cities: We all have alleys and gardens and secret rooftops and places where daisies sprout between the sidewalk cracks, but most of the time all we let each other see is a postcard glimpse of a skyline or a polished square. Love lets you find those hidden places in another person, even the ones they didn't know were there, even the ones they wouldn't have thought to call beautiful themselves.”
