Wow, this will go down as one of my favorite weddings to date. Obviously, Ellen is just so gorgeous that it makes taking photos incredibly easy. But beyond being outwardly beautiful, this lady is just so bubbly and fun and kind. Jordan and Ellen really just wanted to get married, so they left it up to Sky with Lavender Haze Wedding Co. to completely transform Franklin Park Conservatory's patio to a "Bridgerton garden party". The tablesettings, the blue and white china pattern, and even the music fit the vibe SO perfectly. I will always remember the parents from this day as well. You could tell both sets of parents just loved who their daughter and son chose. It makes me so happy to see families come together that way. I'll always remember Ellen's father's speech (which made both Cody and I cry), followed by a surprise choreographed dance. See all the beauty here:

Sky was part of this dream team last Saturday! Another gorg, successful Retreat 21 wedding in the books ✨

My first impression of Stephanie was how touching and sweet she was when she gave her speech at her sister Nicole's wedding. You could tell she was so sweet, and kind. It's only fitting that I got to see the tables turned and watch Nicole give back her own speech on Stephanie and Braedon's day.

Never have been so excited to say good riddance to an era quite like I am the 2023 wedding season- while we had lots of fun- there were some missteps and growing pains within LHWC. As a wise woman once said- if you never bleed, you’re never gonna grow. 🖤

To break it down, we’ve zoned in on the moving parts that were broken and chose what was worth holding onto to fix and what was best to discard. In 2024, we will be operating with 4 coordinators rather than 7. We’ve found this is the best route as to made 100% sure that the coordinators we have on staff are prepared, experienced and willing to go the extra mile for our clients. This also comes with scaling back on volume of weddings. Last year, we took SIXTY weddings, which proved to be excrucating and excessive. This year, we have scaled back to cap at 40 total, giving our coordinators time to have a life between weddings too and prevent burnout.

On the topic of burnout- a lot of things can be missed when your head just isn’t in the game. Capping our wedding days at 10 hours will prevent us from working 15+ hour days. Our contract has always stated ten hours, yet for years we have not operated acknowledging that and taking care of our coordinators well being too.

We will also not be taking any bookings more than an hour outside of Columbus, as to avoid travel fees and issues, the need for hotel stays or possible weather related travel problems. If your wedding is already scheduled for a venue an hour away, you are grandfathered into this, but no other bookings will be taken outside of an hour away.

Set Office Hours: for years, we have operated on the basis of “text us at any hour and we will answer” but beginning in January, we will answer/reply/work within our office hours only, just as most people get to do when they clock out of work. Part of the issues we have grown to know is ZERO work/life separation. My hope is that creating boundaries helps this!

In 2024, instead of Holly being the only full service planner, you may be placed with Lexi or Sky- as they are also now full service planners!

We hope these changes will help us to get back on track and prosper in 2024, we are ready! 🤍✨

I've finally had a moment to sit and reflect on this year and post, and let me tell you, although we had some exceptional clients this year, I am so relieved to have simply survived this season. Gonna get transparent here: we had some pretty bad experiences this year and fell short in some ways, too. We overbooked and had to learn the hard way. However, this is part of the drama and glamour of owning your own business! It's live and learn, trial and error. As a team, we have brainstormed how to create a more organized, foolproof system that means we aren't taking as many bookings next year and beyond.

For me, personally, this was the absolute most difficult season I have ever endured as a planner and to be honest, I'm just happy I was able to provide a solid service for clients on the day of and get through. This past March, I had our daughter, Amelia. With two boys at home, a newborn, homeschooling, trying to remain a decent wife and maintaining our home in general, our clients sometimes had to deal with kiddos sitting with me on calls, reschedules, switches, etc. because my babies come first, always. So to those who decided not to completely annihilate me in a bad review THANK YOU. To those who did, THANK YOU, because we know how to avoid these situations in the future now! I am doing every single thing in my power under the sun to make it all happen for everyone. I am working until I can't hold my eyes open anymore, getting up, momming, and doing the damn thing ALL day. I am keeping the ship moving full steam ahead while maintaining a household of little people. So genuinely, from the bottom of my heart, thank you to vendors, couples, etc. for your grace, understanding and flexibility. We have reflected, made changes within, and are ready to take on 2024 with a clear outlook and a humble attitude. XO, Holly & the LHWC Team
