His career began as a child actor/model in the Midwest, in the 1970’s. In 1981 David produced the first of his exciting stage productions and has been consistently booked with engagements to this day. David John has been hailed by colleagues and critics alike for his highly successful showcase production series such as Candy, Sweets for Your Eyes, High Drama, The Gift, and Heat wave, to name a few
. Also to his credit is his original Hernando’s Hideaway, a whodunit murder mystery musical comedy hit, and now in its 15th year of delighting audiences from coast to coast. He is currently in production on a television pilot for children.In 1982, David was selected by Andy Warhol to produce the Minneapolis opening of his 12 American Myths series. He is also responsible for the discovery of such major talent as Elijah Wood, star of Radio Flyer, The Good Son, Flipper, Paradise, The Faculty, and the hit Lord of the Rings, just to name a few. In 1981, David introduced Kelly Lynch in his Sassy series. Kelly has gone on to fame as a top Elite model and is now an actress appearing in such major hits as Roadhouse, Bright Lights Big City, Drug Store Cowboy and Curly Sue. David is also responsible for the discovery of Sean Murray, star of CBS’s NCIS, Hocus Pocus, and other successful films opposite major stars. David’s extensive portfolio is available for viewing.David is an active fundraiser for such causes as Alzheimer’s, AIDS, Deaf Action, the Homeless, the Red Cross, the United Way and Make a Wish Foundation. He is the recipient of top national awards and honors for his many accomplishments in the modeling and talent industry from such major conventions as the Mike Beaty Expo, Dallas, The Helen Rogers IMTA Convention, New York, and in 1998 was named the Outstanding Director of the Year by the Millie Lewis American Modeling and Talent Association. Most recently, David was honored by the board of regents of the Global Stars Network. David attends the GSN conventions twice yearly with his top talent aboard a Carnival cruise ship.David John has held a variety of executive positions with top national agencies. He has directed several training centers across the United States such as John Robert Powers, John Casablanca’s, as well as founding Avant Studios in Des Moines and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Fashion Theatre in Iowa, Minnesota, and Texas. David serves clients from coast to coast with repeat bookings of his productions.Current projects include Hernando’s Hideaway, High Drama, Murder in Cape Coma, Electric Valentine and Poetry in Motion (children’s theatre) as well as his Comedy and Improv Camp and Children’s Mystery Café.
