Seems hard to believe I'm doing this right now, but the time has come to tell you that my brother Brian and I are retiring. Flowers By Edwards will be no more. We have been doing this for 47 1/2 years. The florist has been here for 49 1/2 years, as my oldest brother Edward and our Dad Edward started the business back in 1973, with the help, guidance, & love of the most amazing woman in the world, our Mom, we conquered the rest! Our last day is 7/30/2022
There comes a time in life when you just say "it’s time”, we are there, mentally and physically exhausted. The last 2 years have been so hard, but because of your love, loyalty, and support we made it through it. We had the opportunity to sell the building we are in, so now it is as good a time as any...
I don't even know where to begin to thank all of you, my sisters, Coleen and Kathy & Soul sister Sandy for always coming up on holidays to help out, my brother Glenn for his support, my nieces and nephews, “Big Lori”, my bestie Carmela, don’t know what I would do without you, and my customers that became like family helping out here, Liz, Eileen, Lucy,Ellen, Janine, Vito, Nick C., The Fazzolare ladies, Bill L.,
Jim D. Anthony C., Bill G., Good twin, Bad Twin, Jimmy S., Matt, Carla, Barbara, Donna K., aka “Mary” & Donna Z. Our treasured friends Schaffie & Linda F. Russ & Brucie. And John S. for always taking care of us during winter storms. And last but not least ‘my Ginny “for always helping me with the Face book page. I hope I’m not forgetting anybody..Forgive me if i did. I’m so overwhelmed right now. I will never forget any of you.
Thank you to all my customers for your years of love and support. The past few years I have started to do weddings of girls that I did their parents... I think that's what I’m most proud of. Watching the kids from birth to graduation, to their wedding has just been amazing...Being part of all your families special occasions meant the world me. Feel free to leave me a picture of one of your favorite “Flowers By Edwards” moment.
Another amazing part of my career has been being part of the Brian Moore "Blue Bow" giveaway... I wish we never had to do that, but were so proud to be a part of it seeing our community ban together for the Moore family, .and it will remain with me forever..I met two very special people in that venture. Liz & Joni I Love You!
To my Plainedge and Farmingdale School families... Where and how do I ever begin to thank you? We have been a part of so many of your special occasions from the sweetheart dances, to proms, to installations, to graduation...Schwarting, Eastplain, JH West, The Middle School, and the High School. Albany Ave, & Farmingdale High School.. The best had to be helping you find the gingerbread man when he got lost.. Even though he was not supposed to be found. “OOPS” I will miss you all dearly.
Thank you to all in the NMFD for your long time support, from your installations, babies, get well and yes sympathy tributes. I have seen lots of “new chiefs” in our time here. I thank you all.
I could go on and on, but now I am an emotional wreck..So they say, my journey will continue.. Just in a different way, not sure what but no more lifting 40 pound buckets, no more 15 hour days during the holidays, no more “8” days a week, but I will miss you all terribly. I will hold a special place in my heart for all of you..
Going forward please give our friend and colleague down at Pequa Park Florist 536 Broadway in Massapequa a call, 516-541-3311, I know he will take good care of our clients.
In closing, barring any unforeseen circumstances, I want to wish the “ future owner of 1079” Mr. Craig L. Petrella, CPA, MBA, PC a local Plainedge resident, a lifetime of success and happiness, I hope you are as lucky as we were in loving the community as we did. I know our community will embrace you as they have for us for 49 ½ years. The transition should take place in early September..
A dear friend sent me this last week, and it holds so true for me,
“Sometimes change isn’t what we want, but it might be what we need..Not everything is meant to last forever.....Bring on the rest of my journey...
