Definitely feeling older and wiser over here. They say your 30's are your best years, and this year has already been the best yet, so I can't wait to see what the future holds.

My heart swells with gratitude for the unwavering love and support surrounding me. I feel so grateful for the clients that stick with me and choose me to tell all their stories. I also feel grateful to my body for allowing me to continue even though it hurts 40% of the time. There are plenty of highs and lows in this industry, but I consider myself so lucky to still be standing here today.

Here's to hoping for another 30 years of doing what I love most.❤

Pro tips for you wedding party reception entrance.👀

1.) Have your wedding party come out in pairs. Having them walk in individually can feel super awkward for them, and if you have them come out all at once, it can be hard to get decent pictures of each of them because they will be blocking each other and can be moving too quickly.

2.) Make sure everyone has something fun planned for when they hit mid dance floor (take a shot, high five, swap clothes, do a dance, piggyback ride, disco arms, make it rain, etc.). This is the start of the party, it should feel like it!

3.) Try to choose a door that will allow you to walk through your crowd so you can see that they are cheering for you all.

4.) Try including props. You can grab drinks, confetti poppers, glow sticks, money guns, beer hats, etc.

5.) For the couple, a classic dip and kiss is my fave, but you can even come in and do a champagne tower, or have your wedding party form a tunnel for you to walk through if you want to have fun with it! Just don't keep your wedding party in a spot where they will block the view of you both.

6.) Make sure your DJ is on board and knows not to announce the next pairing until the dance floor is clear again. Also talk with them about what fun song you want to walk in to. Picking one song will allow for a better flow.

All in all, it's your day, do it how you want. If you want to provide entertainment, get some laughs or good pictures of the entrances, this is a good place to start.😊

Just a little update to say that busy season is officially here! Not sure where the year has gone, but sheesh. I am so incredibly excited for Fall, the pretty leaves, the couples we get to celebrate, the upcoming birth I get to document, the bo***ir themes we are planning, and all the other fun things!😍

With that being said though, this also means editing times will be changing a bit due to the (beautiful) chaos. I'm currently around 2-4 weeks for standard galleries, 4-8 weeks for wedding galleries, and right at 12 weeks for videography. My editing list is still pinned to the top of my Facebook if you want to check progress.

I will be taking August 22nd-29th off to hopefully finish up the remaining summer galleries in queue and celebrate my 30th birthday! Messages will be slightly delayed during this time so I can focus on editing.

It's been a minute since I've posted a little throwback.👀 2013 vs. 2024.

For new followers, you might think my work has always looked how it does now, but I truly started at the bottom. Photography was not what it is now when I began this journey back in early 2012 at age 17. I was shooting on a tiny point in shoot I was gifted by a family member. It took me almost 3 years to upgrade to a DSLR that cost me around $300 (which was my entire month's paycheck at the time as a server). There were spurts where I was working multiple jobs to stay afloat, living off of Ramen noodles, just using my hobby as a side hustle to have any kind of savings.

I didn't even truly start blossoming until 2019 when I was able to invest in more professional gear, (full frame camera, prime lenses, etc.) classes, and mentorships, and I didn't go full time until 2020 after losing my serving job due to the pandemic, and quitting the dental office that didn't want to work with my photography schedule.

I've had lots of ups and downs throughout my growth. I've made mistakes, I've let the wrong people into my business and been burned at times, and I've had to work out of my garage in the past when I didn't have a studio. I went from slapping whatever inconsistent Pic Monkey filter on my images to hand editing every single image consistently, and making it feel like my art. I've fluctuated with turnaround times until I found what works best for me. I've pushed my boundaries until I finally set them and stuck to them. It has really been trial and error.

Now, I am in a beautiful studio space, consistently doing parades and hosting events, working with nonprofit organizations to provide services, periodically donating to the shelters, offering a yearly Pay What You Can day, gifting end of life sessions for those fur babies we don't get enough time with, sponsoring baseball/softball teams, and advocating for other small businesses. I am forever grateful to have the ability to pour into my community.

Seeing where I am now still feels completely unreal. Hearing clients who have been with me since the beginning say how proud they are of me makes me truly feel like I've made it. I may not be fully where I want to be yet, because there's a million things I would love to still accomplish within my business, but I feel so at peace for the first time since I started.

I have seen probably 5 or so very talented photographers announce that they were closing down their businesses this past week, and I feel very grateful to still be doing what I love. The love you all give me means so much to me, and I hope to do this until my body says it's time to stop. Thank you so much to those who support me. Whether it be by booking me, referring me, leaving me kind reviews, liking/commenting/sharing my posts, or showing up to my events. I love ya'll so much.❤

What are some reasons as to why should you have a Photo Booth at your wedding? Lemme tell you.👀👇1.) Having a photo booth for your wedding is a great way to make sure you’re getting authentic pictures of every guest. Not everyone will do formal portraits with the wedding photographer, but they’ll likely visit the photo booth for a fun group picture or selfie. Even those who feel decline being photographed by the photographer will spend the night at the booth taking selfies because they feel more comfortable! 2.) Photo booths can keep your guests occupied, especially during cocktail hour! Keeping guests entertained is important so you can keep the party going! 3.) It’s a fun keepsake to take home! Anyone else?😂😂😂 The cicadas overran us at minis yesterday. We gently removed them for one session (don’t worry, none were hurt with the stick), then there were too many, so they got to chill on the sheets and scream.😂 Nev was terrified of them and says, “I wouldn’t trade this job for the world.”😂

A wedding flat lay is a collection of items from the couple to photograph on wedding day. It’s a good opportunity to get pictures of things that might not ordinarily make it into a picture, like your invitations or heirlooms. Here are some items you can include: •Invitations (multiple if double sided) with envelopes• Order of Events Prints •Vow Books• All three rings • Jewelry (earrings, necklace, bracelet, watch)• Cuff Links •Shoes •Veil •Bouquet or other blooms •Tie/Tie Clips •Perfume/Cologne •Hair Pieces •Ring Box •Lipstick of the day •Gifted liquor/wedding party gifts (sunglasses, koozies, etc) •Heirloom items •Fabric or ribbon to match your color scheme •Borrowed/blue items •Personalized items (napkins, guest favors, etc) •Tokens that tie in location (seashells, moss, leaves, etc). Be sure to pack this all in one box for your photographer on wedding day so you don’t have to scramble to gather things! You will both be happy you did.☺️

When I became a photographer, it was because I wanted to capture the beauty in the ordinary. The every day love, the laughs, the good and the bad. I grew up in a low income household with my four siblings. There’s so many moments we were never able to capture. We didn’t own a camera, and there are no pictures of us all together as a family throughout my youth. This is what really steered me towards my interest in photography. As a teenager, I took a journalism class because I thought I wanted to be a journalist, but as soon as my teacher put a camera in my hand, the rest was history. Soon after, someone gifted me a little point and shoot, and I began my journey to now.I have worked so hard to get to where I am today, and it is never lost on me just how beautiful my life has become. I am so lucky to constantly be surrounded by beautiful humans, genuine connection, and so much love. Being able to capture so many beautiful moments means the world to me, and I will continue to do so until I can’t anymore.One day, a photograph is all you could have to remember a moment, a loved one, a feeling. Don’t forget how important it is to capture your life.❤️

Just a few of my fave easy prompts.😍 I love the genuine interactions, smiles, and laughs. Prompting can help couples feel more comfortable in front of the camera. Natural movements and emotions can take the lead and allow me to photograph the true essence of my subjects. I can’t tell you how many couples come into their session thinking they will be awkward and leave their session feeling confident and raving about how fun the experience was.🥺
