Bread and Puppet have come and gone and they packed (and unpacked) so much richness, joy and inspiration (and emergency weather response, and puppets, and press, and bread flour and garlic aioli) into their time here! About 45 folks aged 6 to 82 attended Fridays “Puppetry in Performance” workshop and about half came back yesterday to perform as volunteers in the show. We got a firsthand look at the bread side of Bread and Puppet, and at how a kind, thoughtful, consensus-based community pulls together when a fast-moving thunderstorm or three make a damp mess of puppets and press. The show went on, with dramatic skies, pink elephants and other astonishing sights, beautiful music and timely words. Then bread with garlic aioli was served, and many damp things were spread out to dry before an early morning departure in the rain. Safe travels ! You’re amazing!

Our TOUR CAMP teens have some crazy ideas and a whimsical theme for their Big Big Show next THURSDAY, Aug 15, at 6 pm! It will take place in the middle of the street, as part of the Mazo Night Market (5-8 pm, vendors, food carts and live music!). Come see some mad acrobatic, comedic, aerial and juggling skills on display, and find out what’s going to happen with all those vacuum cleaners!

TALL CALL! Join us for a sweet, short parade with Madison favorites Forward Marching Band and Black Star Drumline at McPike Park this coming Sunday, June 16, as part of The Sessions at McPike Park! Call is at 2 p.m., parade is at 2:30, and we will be done by 3. Stilt walkers must provide their own equipment in safe working condition. We'll have some stilt-cuffs and other costume elements on hand, but feel free to wear your own costumes as well. RSVP!

EDIT: We have a loaner van! Thanks Cheryl Heck and Heck’s market for the use of your van! And thanks for all of the other offers! We have an amazing community! This faithful (and very stylish) van has taken us and our gear to countless parades and performances, but this week it's in the shop, and we need to find a replacement so that we can get to Baraboo on Saturday June 8 with show gear, a dozen pairs of stilts, and an oversized rainbow trout puppet. Looking for a cargo van, a mini van w/o the seats, or some other similar-sized vehicle that we could borrow, rent, trade circus lessons for, etc.
