Welcome back to our education Tuesday! This week we are talking about one of the grants our environmental services department has.

Did you know that the Jackson County Health Departments Environmental Services department has a grant that can help with home sewage treatment systems (HSTS). This grant is through the Ohio EPA to help local homeowners ensure their safety by reducing exposure to diseases and bacteria that they can be exposed to by damaged or failing home sewage systems.

The grant will help pay for the repairs or replacement of home sewage treatment systems. It can also assist with lateral connection new county or city waste water. If your home does not have a existing home sewage treatment system you may qualify to get help with putting one in. *No new constructions qualify*

The Ohio Water Pollution Control Loan Fund (WPCLF) can cover 100% of the cost for those that are 100% below the poverty guidelines, 85% of costs for those 100-200% below and 50% for those that are between 200-300% below the guidelines. Please see the income guidelines below to see where you may fall.

If you have questions or concerns, please contact the Jackson County Health Department at 740-286-5094 and choose extension 2836 to talk with our environmental services department. You can also stop in Monday-Friday between the hours of 8am and 4pm.

I just want to share this big news with all y'all.

NBC's TODAY SHOW will be in Gallipolis, Gallia County in the morning to feature GALLIPOLIS IN LIGHTS on their national broadcast. You might want to tune in if you can to see what all the fuss is about.

I went downtown tonight to photograph the Park. They've done an outstanding job again this year. I'll post tonight's photos on Christmas Eve.
