Our lovable Frankie is a big hit with the Master Gardeners at Myers Park. Come out on September 21st and enjoy the beautiful gardens that the CCMG have been diligently toiling over all summer!
Anyone familiar with this "cute" little fella? Ran into him on the way into the Myers Park office and it fueled our curiosity. Meet the Promachus Hinei, better known as the "Robber Fly". 🪰🪰
They are aggressive hunters and even though they eat a lot of harmful pests in the garden🦟🦗🕷, they do tend to include in their diet the insects that gardeners consider beneficial to the garden🦋🦋, which is a downside.
But, from what we have read, the bottom line is that they are considered to play an important role in maintaining a healthy balance in our gardens, so we guess we'll keep the welcome mat out for him.
While most of us tried to stay inside out of the heat this summer, the Collin County Master Gardeners were busy making major changes to the front beds at Myers Park & Event Center. The hard work, creativity in design and choices of plants have enhanced the gardens and we appreciate it! Of course, Frankie, our Myers Park resident cat had to help Linda dig and fill in all of the holes for the plants!
Kudos to the CCMG for all of their hard work (that is still going on!).
We hope everyone has a wonderful time celebrating our country's independence day!
Our park & event center will be closed today, and will reopen on Friday, July 5th.
Have a very Happy & Safe 4th of July Holiday!🎉😀🌭🍦
To all you hard working, fun loving, crazy acting, dad joke telling fathers out there, we wish you a...
Happy Flag Day! 🇺🇸 What special activity do you do to celebrate?

The Canadian geese are back at their favorite breeding grounds at Myers Park.
We love the fact that they return to the same nesting sites year after year. They prefer nesting near water bodies like lakes and ponds, which makes this area at The Park perfect for their nests. So far, we have 7 little babies (goslings).
We'll keep you updated as the season progresses!

“The Long Walk” taken February 20, 2019. This is the creek that goes under the Wells Bridge. You can see and hear the wind, but the dip of the creek bed protects the creek so there are almost no ripples. I loved the reflection of the trees in the water. Incidentally, if you listen you can hear the honk of the geese that were in the pond on the Gazebo end of the park. #beautyisee
“The Long Walk” taken February 20, 2019. You can’t really see these ponds unless you know where you are going. They are between the vegetable garden and the Back 40 and they are really here to manage rain water, so not terribly romantic. But my, are they ever pretty with the wind pushing the water into peaks. I was wishing I had brought a lawn chair. 😉 #beautyisee
We’ve had some road construction going on at the park...and of course that’s all for the greater good...but on this particular day there was no where that I could get to by driving. So I grabbed my camera, and my jacket and went on a long walk. It was just beautiful. There are a whole set of these that were taken on February 20, 2019. “The Long Walk” #critters #ladybug #beautyisee
"Walk in the Garden" - Taken January 2, 2019 This is actually the first video I took in this series. It had been 60 degrees on the 31st of December, and here it was 2 days later and there was ice everywhere. Even after almost 16 years in this area, I'm still surprised when things freeze, it just happens so quickly. I liked how the water was dripping off those little icicles as they formed. #beautyisee
"Walk in the Rain"-taken January 2, 2018 As I was coming down through the Award Winning EarthKind Perennial garden and down our new stone staircase that opens onto the Farm Museum Parking lot, I noticed a still pool had formed. I like how the raindrops look as they hit that still surface. #beautyisee
When you have as many gardens as we do here at Myers Park & Event Center...you become aware how essential our pollinators are. Looks like they really like the Mexican Bush Sage...
I'm sorry for the quality of this video, but it was sent by one of our groundsmen who was completely surprised by our visitor. The quality is much better if you leave this small. It'll give you the general size of this animal. With some research, we THINK this is a Texas River Otter.
