Their day was filled with so much love, laughter, and fun! The tropical vibes fit so perfectly with their beachfront venue, and I’d be lying if I said it didn’t make my soul happy to be near the sand + water too 🥰🫶🏻

At the end of the day, I say follow your heart and trust your gut. This is YOUR big day—not anyone else’s! Have the wedding you and your partner have always dreamed of, and don’t feel a single ounce of guilt about it. This is a once-in-a-lifetime celebration of your love, and it deserves to be exactly what you want it to be💛

Take N+R, for example: their shared love of national parks and the great outdoors led them to choose Shenandoah as the place to exchange their vows, surrounded by their closest family and friends. Later, they brought the celebration back to their cozy, beloved home—where even their animals got to join in on the fun! (If you know them, you know how perfectly “them” that is!) 🫶🏻

I’ll always admire how they honored their passions and the life they’ve built together. However you choose to celebrate your love, I’d be honored to document it in a way that feels like you🥰💍🌿

There are so many ways to create meaningful first-look moments, like:
❤️Bride + Groom: A private, intimate moment to calm the nerves and soak it all in before the ceremony.

✨ Sunset: The most important time of day for your wedding timeline—at least from a photographer’s perspective 😉

Why does it matter so much? Because golden hour is pure magic—flattering, romantic, and perfect for dreamy portraits with your new spouse! 💛

Want plenty of time for sunset portraits? Here’s a quick rule of thumb:
💛 Planning for a First Look? Aim for a ceremony time at least 2 hours before sunset.
💛 No First Look? Plan for a ceremony time at least 3 hours before sunset.

Of course, there are lots of factors to consider when planning your timeline (such as time of year, venue rental time, etc.) but starting with sunset is a great place to begin! ☀️

✨One of my absolute favorite locations to shoot at in DC is the Library of Congress! C+D had a gorgeous session with me this past summer, so I have to show it off to you all! ✨💛 Just look how precious they are 🥹

There are so many beautiful locations in DC that offer stunning architecture and views, but the Library of Congress is an all time favorite because there is no permit needed! Plus, the Capitol and Supreme Court are just across the street to add some variety to your backdrops 🥰

I am so excited for C+D’s wedding later this year! They absolutely nailed their session and I know their wedding day will be even more gorgeous 🥰✨

✨ Wow, there are so many new faces around here—welcome!! 🎉✨ Whether you just found me or have been quietly following along, I figured it’s the perfect time to reintroduce myself!

I’m Karisa Lomax, the heart and soul behind the lens at Love, Lomax Studios 💛📸 As every artist signs their work, I like to think my work is signed with love—not just in the photos themselves, but in the way I care for my couples. My love language is basically all five of them, so when I’m by your side, you’re getting the prime treatment! 🥰

I specialize in wedding photography, capturing love stories in all their raw, emotional, joy-filled glory. My goal? To give you vibrant, heartfelt images that let you relive your best moments over and over again. ✨

Since I always ask my clients to share a little bit about themselves, it’s only fair that I do the same—because I love connecting with my people! So here are a few fun (and totally random) things about me:

💛 I feel all the feels. Being super empathetic and intuitive means I’m the photographer who cries during your First Dance (see the 2nd photo for proof 😂), gasps at golden hour, and hypes you up like it’s my job (because it is).

💛 I traded scrubs for a camera. Once an RN, always an RN—but these days, my heart beats for love stories instead of vital signs!

💛 My dogs run my life. Riley & Flynn are the real bosses here, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. 🐶

💛 Chocolate + Cheesecake = My Love Language. No further explanation needed. 🍫🍰

💛 I’m a Coastie Wife. My amazing husband’s service in the Coast Guard brought us to the DMV, and now I get to capture love stories in the most beautiful places!

💛 I live for the in-between moments. The belly laughs, the happy tears, the stolen glances—those are the photos that mean everything.

💛 I will 100% cry at your wedding. You’ve been warned twice now. 😂 (But don’t worry, I’ll still get the shot!)

🌴 I am heading to • F L O R I D A• today to capture the wedding of the beautiful Maid of Honor pictured here, so it seemed fitting to share this snippet from M+D’s ceremony last April in Tampa to celebrate 💛 I think the coolest part is that this time around, Mallory gets to be Madeline’s Matron of Honor—what a full circle moment for these long-time besties 🥹 I can’t begin to express how much it means to me to be asked to capture a wedding day after having worked with the couple before for someone else’s special day 🥰

With my traveling in mind, I’ll be out of office today through next Wednesday 2/5 so please pardon any delayed responses! I’ll be periodically checking messages as able 💌 So excited to soak up some sun and warmth while doing my favorite thing—capturing a beautiful love story 💛✨
