This has been the year of families/extended families and I've loved it! I love seeing growing families, big families, small families, younger families, older families, etc. and all their unique-ness! :)
These are some of my favorite memories to capture and preserve in my own personal life and clients' lives.
I hope everyone has a wonderful, safe, blessed Thanksgiving holiday! Don't take your families for granted!

We finally got the Thompson's family session done after multiple reschedules! Yay! There were still some pretty fall colors left at Dyck Arboretum and we got some good smiles from little Miss Hadley! :) Thanks Thompsons!
P.S. I have physical gift certificates and photography sessions make the best gifts for your parents/grandparents! You can always purchase a session and we can schedule it this next year!

It’s a race against the cold/trees losing their leaves! I have a few more sessions for the year and hoping it’s not completely bare with the wind/rain we’ve been having! But we got family photos done for this lively bunch!

As I’ve gotten older/more mature/watching my own kids grow up I’ve had to let go of the “perfect portrait” idea in my head. I think most people, including me want those perfect smiling photos of their kids. Those images still hold a special place in my heart and I melt when I do actually get those natural, golden smiles of my girls and other kiddos. But that’s not always the REAL life case. I’ve started embracing those solemn, straight face, and maybe even some crying images. And it’s ok. It doesn’t always match up with your expectations (especially when you’re paying for not-cheap photos! I get it parents!) but you have to put yourself in your future 20 year self’s shoes. You will love these photos of your kids. It’s authentic, real life, true to your kiddo. I definitely try my best to get at least ONE smile from your kids but if not, just remember this time and that it won’t last forever!

Another extended family in the books! I've said it before, but I love shooting extended families because there is just a chaotic, yet fun, life-giving dynamic to them! So many personalities and you get to see them all interact with each other in a short span.
I've had a couple people reach out about possible gift certificates for the holidays. The answer is yes! I have physical gift certificates I can give you if you want to purchase a family, extended family session, etc. for a loved one! (hint hint men out there! Your moms/wives would love this!) Message me for details!

And the last of the triple header this weekend was the Pattison family! It's never real easy to get some genuine smiles out of boys, but I think we got some good ones tonight! Loving this weather and tree colors finally changing! Tonight was the lovely Makatche family! This is the sweetest family with the most adorable girls! We got some great "Christmas card" shots! If you're panicking trying to figure out if you still have time to get your family photos done for the holidays, message me! I don't have a ton of spots left - just a few week nights! But we can make some magic happen!

It was a privilege to take photos of the Favara family today! We've been neighbors for several years and it's been fun to watch these boys grow up! The leaves are turning and trees are so beautiful and it felt like fall this morning! Happy Fall ya'll! :)

The Morris family graced my camera tonight and it was a blast! Definitely kept me on my toes but this family has no shortage of laughs and love! I've heard lately from multiple people how precious their time was with loved ones, now gone. All they have left is memories and photos of them. Either from a family session they did, or the dance at their wedding, or just candid selfies with them, these photos are so cherished. It is not lost on me, that having professional photos done is a luxury and a sacrifice in some cases. But if you can budget and make it work, it is so so worth it. You will have these long after your loved ones are gone (just back up the photos! haha).

It was so hard to narrow down even just sneak peeks from this precious family session tonight! Kohen did so well, even though smiles may have been few and far between! But we pulled a few out! :) It was a group effort trying to get some from him. So thankful for some cooler weather relief recently and had some gorgeous light tonight!

After a few reschedules we finally got the Pfieff family session done last night! It was a beautiful night at the Indian Rock Park in Salina. And no one slipped in the water! I love my repeat families!

Last night I got to take senior photos for the last Jesseph kiddo! I've taken her two older brothers' photos the last several years and it was finally Christina's turn! We got to explore the little town of Little River some. Christina plays the flute, does cheer, and loves history, and those are just a few of the things that make her her!

Seniors, if you are still wanting senior photos I still have some availability this fall but it's filling up! Or we can do some in the spring! Hit me up!

Last month I got to see wheat harvest again! The Martinsons were like a well-oiled machine, working hard and working together to accomplish this year's wheat harvest. It's always fascinating stepping into this world of farming, where not a lot of people truly know how much grit, determination, and faith it takes to succeed. I am always extra thankful for our farmers!
Thank you Martinson family for all your sacrifices all year long!

This is for my engaged friends! Still looking for a photographer? Did you know there are different styles of wedding photography? This is one thing to think about when shopping for a wedding photographer. Think about your style/preference and what lens you want to relive your wedding day through. What is my style? Glad you asked! I would describe my style to be a mix between Traditional and Documentary/Photojournalistic. You can see some examples below. I love just kind of being a "fly on a wall" and capturing things organically, or "as is." However, I also love those classic, timeless, posed photos too! Depending on your personality and choice, you'll get a good mix of both if I am shooting your big day! Also, who loves black and white?! 🙋🏽‍♀️ They just have such a timeless, emotional pull and helps you focus on the emotion in the photo. Therefore, it's pretty guaranteed you'll get a handful of black and white photos in your gallery as well. If any of this resonates with you, or you think, "yes! This is what I'm wanting for our big day!" then hit me up! Let's chat and figure out a plan for one of the best days of your life!

The Bohnenblust family graced my camera last night and it was so sweet and filled with laughs. James and Courtney are raising some amazing kiddos. Even with a little chaos, we always get some precious photos and they get to remember that "these are the days." ❤️

Can we take a moment to just appreciate this adorable family? The Gemmers tromped around Coronado Heights with me this evening and it was a blast! We got some beautiful lighting and these models made it even more beautiful!

We almost called tonight off with the periodic showers today but we decided to just go for it and if we got a little rain so be it. I'm so glad we went for it, as it turned out so beautiful and the sunshine was so perfect! Thanks Baily and Quinn for exploring Dillons Nature Center some with me tonight! I've loved getting to know them through engagement photos and their wedding! Repeat clients are the best!
