Today we close out 2024 with a huge change- walking out of and locking the doors to J & L Catering’s location one last time. With the last big item sold yesterday and moving things out the way we started moving things in- with friends and family (one of whom was just 5! When we opened!) helping. Over the last 18+ years, we have grown a lot- as a business and as a couple - adding two amazing kids to the mix along the way! When we started, I knew nothing about catering (behind the scenes) or running a business. As a lawyer, I never imagined I’d run a business, let alone a food/event related one! But while planning our wedding, I’d said my second choice for a career would be wedding planning. I kind of ended up with that! I had said I’d never run a business with my partner - but here we are! I learned a lot about people, business, marketing, our relationship, events, food, and more!

I am proud of the multiple award-winning business we created from nothing. I am proud of John for fulfilling a life-long dream. I am thankful for the friendships we made, the memories we shared, the clients we thrilled with our food and smoothly run events, our amazing staff we trained “John Boardman’s” way, the laughter, the vendors we met, full bellies, the drinks after work, and so much more!

Here’s to remembering years of wonderful events and closing out 2024 with a small, beautiful wedding - just like we started.

We don’t know what is next for John, but we know it will be great! Looking forward to our best year yet- 2025!!!!

And that’s a wrap for us here at J & L Catering!!

We were honored to cater Jenny’s intimate backyard wedding reception yesterday as our last function. Her menu included a brunch with deviled eggs, honeydew in thyme syrup, mini potato pancakes with sour cream & applesauce, danishes, fresh fruit & croissants for cocktail hour, followed by an omelet station, waffles & pancake bar, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, home fries, assorted gourmet wraps, juices & coffee for their reception.

Congratulations to the newly married couple!

Thank you ALL from the bottom of our hearts for your support, love & guidance over the last 18+ years! It’s been a true honor to be your go-to caterer for the important moments you have celebrated with loved ones! To our staff, family & friends- we couldn’t have done it without you!

John Boardman is already off fishing (literally went straight to the boat!), enjoying the last moments of the season, soaking up the surreal feeling of our accomplishing his truly living and fulfilling his dream of owning a catering company before he has his surgery in a couple of weeks.
