Flamingo 5K Put on Hold for 2021 Due to COVID-19

The 36th Annual Melbourne Art Festival will once again be held among the trees and lakes at beautiful Wickham Park in Melbourne, FL April 24 & 25, 2021 but several festival main stays had to be put on hold or scaled back including the Flamingo 5K.

The annual festival, which draws tens of thousands of art and music lovers, is a vibrant family friendly event that promotes and encourages artistic endeavors, education and appreciation of the arts in Brevard County.

Melbourne Art Festival has eliminated or scaled back several of the activities that normally draw larger gatherings at the event including the 5K. Due to safety concerns for vendors, attendees and volunteers amid the ongoing pandemic, it was decided to place the Patron program and 5K race on hold for 2021 while scaling back on some children actives and the live music program.

Canceled last year due to the pandemic, this year’s scaled down, COVID compliant, festival will still feature approximately 200 artists, live music, kid friendly activities, a virtual art competition for students, sponsor displays, and diverse food and beverage options in a serene park setting with plenty of parking. The Melbourne Art Festival offers FREE admission, FREE parking, FREE children’s activities and FREE live entertainment throughout the weekend. All CDC recommendations for holding a safe, Covid Compliant, festival will be followed.

We hope to see you at this year's festival and again next year for the 2022 Flamingo 5K.

THE 2021 FLAMINGO 5K RUN KICKS OFF THE MELBOURNE ART FESTIVAL

The 2021 Melbourne Art Festival Flamingo 5K Run/Walk will be held Saturday, April 24th, 2021 starting at 7:30a.m. The #Flamingo5K Run is one of the largest 5K races in Brevard County and has established the reputation as one of the best executed and most fun runs in Central Florida. As the opening act for the annual #MelbourneArtFestival 2021 Melbourne Art Festival, this premier event will host runners and walkers for the 33rd annual run. The proceeds from the race are used to promote and encourage artistic endeavors and education in Brevard County. Come join us for a great time and a great cause.

After the race, runners can enjoy a huge spread of mouth-watering treats including an array of fresh fruits, bread, juices, sandwiches, and all the bottled water you can drink as part of a spectacular post-race celebration that is unequaled on the race circuit. For those daring runners, complimentary beer is also provided after the run. Included in the festivities will be a DJ playing everyone's favorite tunes and prize giveaways that are always a crowd pleaser. Awards are provided in 15 age categories as well as for overall, master, and team challenge (101 in total).

Entry fees for the 2021 race:

$25 by April 19th, 2019 $30 after April 19th and day of race. $20 by April 19th, 2019 for runners 9 and under or 65 and older. $25 after April 19th, 2019 for runners 9 and under or 65 and older. $23 per person for teams (special corporate rate available, contact the (Race Director)) Entry fees include the pre and post run festivities, your commemorative race shirt, guaranteed if registered by April 19th, 2019, a souvenir race packet, and an incredible raffle of gift certificates and prizes for all runners while race results are tallied..

Race packet pick-up will be available at Running Zone on Friday, April 23 from 10am - 6:30pm. Given the number of runners, we highly suggest you visit Running Zone to pick up your race packet. Day of race registration & check-in for packet pick-up begins at 6:30 A.M. until about 7:20 A.M.
