Today is a great day for food....not only is it Cinco de Mayo but it's also National Hoagie Day! Whether you call it a hoagie, submarine or sub sandwich it's a delightful, fulfilling meal packed with your favorite meats, cheeses and veggies on a long bun. Did you know the word hoagie was derived from sandwiches made in Philadelphia by workers at Hog Island shipyard? Originally, the sandwich was called a "hoggie" before the term hoagie caught on. Since World War I, we've been enjoying this Italian favorite. Buon cibo!
