Winning is awesome. And it doesn't take a lot of strength and motivation and discipline to do awesome things.

Losing on the other hand. Losing sucks.

It can be hard to deal with. It can demotivate you.

Or, you can use those hard times to learn. To see where you need to improve.

To use those losses as fuel for the fire.

In life and in sport, you will lose much more than win.

The hard times will hit you more than those good times.

But don't surrender when it's hard. Build that strength and that toughness and power through.

You will amazed at what you will become if you do.

Meet Gerald Emerson at Prudential. He's one of our regular triathletes, but he's also one of our favorite sponsors. You'll see his name on each swim cap this Saturday.

Gerald is a Collierville native, a proud husband and father, and when he's not running triathlons he's running his own financial advising office and balancing family, work, and an active lifestyle.

We're so happy to have Gerald as a local sponsor. Learn more about his work here: https://www.prudential.com/advisor/gerald-emerson

Attention Racers and Volunteers!

In the case of inclement weather, our policy is:

The race will be DELAYED for lightning and/or bad weather but will NOT be canceled.

If you are on course, do what you think is best for your safety unless directed differently by a race official or law enforcement.

Safety is our number 1 priority, so we will do all that we can to ensure a safe and happy race for everyone this weekend.

SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT!

Where would we be without ? Co-founder of , a Triathlon Coach, Bike Fitter, and awesome Twin Dad, Dale has been an integral part of our Memphis In May Triathlon Weekend Tradition.

He says he started his tri journey working at a sport performance facility in 2007. “Folks there were training for Ironman Arizona. I thought it was the dumbest idea ever. But they talked me into doing a sprint. So I bought my first bike from Karen at Bikes Plus and started getting into triathlon and shortly after that bike racing. After not drowning at my first race, the post race atmosphere and commeradrie got me hooked. In 2009, I decided to change my path in sport performance to cater to endurance athletes, and that's how BPC came about. To this day, the community is really what inspires me to keep training, racing, and growing the sport.”

You can find his plethora of Tri Tips over on their YouTube, but he says one thing he wish he knew was, “I wish I would have done a few more seasons of shorter triathlons before training for a long course tri. That, and I should have swam more than twice before my first race.”

We always look forward to getting the chance to pick his brain at our clinics, and we can’t wait to see him this weekend at our 40th Anniversary Memphis In May Triathlon Weekend!

SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT!

This one goes out to the incredible ! She’s a Triathlon Coach with BPC Performance Coaching, Women’s Strength and Conditioning Coach at Lausanne, Personal Trainer, and Mom.

Her triathlon story goes “I used to only run, teach fitness classes and lift. I started in triathlon because a friend I worked with encouraged me to do one. We did the Showman Shooter Tri at Herb Parsons. I had no idea what I was doing really.. When I first started in triathlon in 2011, I borrowed a bike from a friend to do triathlon for my first year or so, then got hooked into the sport and bought my own bike from Bikes Plus. I used to train and race for long course (70.3) but now fully enjoy Sprint or Olympic distance races as that also gives me more time for racing my bike too. The triathlon community and racing community in general is such an amazing thing to be a part of. Some of my best friends have come from racing!”

And her Tri Tip is to “learn how to swim properly/efficiently before your first tri to help you be more comfortable in the open water. Also, enjoy the journey of getting there just as much as the actual racing!”

It’s been great seeing her at the Open Water Swim Clinics at Shelby Farms every weekend and we can’t wait to see her this Saturday at the 40th Anniversary Memphis in May Triathlon Weekend!
