⚡️ LET THEM WRESTLE⚡️
Its not uncommon for female wrestlers to face adversity just to be able to step on the mat.

It can come from coaches, school districts and even teammates when in mixed competition. When a school district doesn't support a girl wrestler it may come as not recognizing accomplishments.
There is a fantastically talented, tough as nails👊 💪female wrestler in NYS that is a CHAMPION and a place winner respectively in the Girls State Invitational. Her school not only refuses to recognize her 1st place but also does not recognize any of the other place winners on their girls team. How incredibly proud a school district should be of the tough and resilient ladies!
What leg do they stand on? Well, the school claims the Girls Invitational is not a state Championship even though NYSPHSAA calls it a state Championship.
THIS IS DISCRIMINATION!!
What can you do if this happens to you? Letters to your Athletic Director, Principal and School Board is a great start! Encourage friends and family to write also! What other things can you think of that can be done? Do you see discrimination of girls wrestlers where you are?

Slowly coming off a HUGE high of
👊🔥👏NYSPHSAA Girls Invitational👏👊🔥 where over 200 of the very best girls in NYS were able to showcase their skills💪 its time to showcase something else that's just as important.
✨️What discrimination of girls wrestling looks like✨️
✨️What retaliation of coaches against a female wrestler may look like✨️
✨️What exclusion may look like for girl wrestlers in mixed competition✨️
✨️What exclusion from a district or club may look like✨️
It's way more common than you think and presents sometimes in surprising ways. Where most of these amazing athletes have full celebration from their school districts, full support from amazing and valuable coaches, complete support from their teammates, be them boys in mixed competition or girls, not all girls that wrestle have support. Many face adversity just to step on the mat.There are many laws and rules in place to protect, but where there's a will there's a way and slowing success of a strong young woman is just what these predators want to do. Getting started in identifying discrimination, with some private stories without naming names, districts or clubs and moving through to some steps to inform and combat this maze of negativity and find support within your coach, team, district or wrestling community. Please share these posts as they're developed to reach our girls far and wide and comment responsibly with a focus to identify first and foremost.
