Enjoy a day or a weekend of Barbershop Harmony. The Town of Alton and the Lakes Region Chordsmen bring you another year of Barbershop in Alton Bay. There will be lots of opportunity to participate in one or more of several venues as well as informal singing around the Bay. Friday afternoon starts off with early check-in and a welcome event at the Alton Community House. Dockside Harmony begins at 6:00 p.m. at the bandstand in Railroad Park hereafter referred to as the dockside bandstand. Saturday venues may include a Concert on the Bay (Bandstand on the Water), a mock Quartet Competition with various categories at the Dockside Bandstand (quartets not registered with the society only), various restaurant venues, and of course, the Great Gathering where Choruses and Quartets come together for an evening of corporate harmony, after which follows what else but an afterglow. One feature of the Great Gathering Saturday evening will be the "Joe Barbershop" chorus which will start off the event at 7:45. There will be a rehearsal session for this just prior to the concert which you need to be part of. Sunday will afford limited participation in church services around town. There is a single fee of $10 for participation in any or all of the weekend (food and lodging not included). Preregistration is encouraged for all but is required to participate in any of the specific venues. You must order and pay for a weekend event ticket and register for each event you wish to be included in. Note that some events do overlap and all have time constraints and therefore a limited number of participants. More information and registration procedures OPEN and ready for you!
