Shameful that Councilmembers (bella-minchuk-petite and hardaway)voted to close court going against the residents wishes.

The Merrillville Town Council narrowly voted this week to close the town court, but a number of questions remain. In a four-to-three vote, council members passed an ordinance to start transferring the caseload to the Lake Superior Court system, without setting a specific closure date.

2022 could be the year for obtaining your high school equivalency credentials. The next test dates are Sept. 6 and 7, registration deadline Sept. 1.

Merrillville Adult Education (MAE), located in Merrillville High School, helps to prepare individuals to complete the HiSET exam. MAE’s free preparation classes are designed for students to go from their current knowledge to a point where passing the HiSET the first time is a reasonable goal.
