One of the greatest albums of all time!

One of the greatest albums of all time!

When AC/DC lost Bon Scott, they weren't sure if they would continue. They decided to carry on.

On July 25, 1980, they released their LP "Back in Black". It was their first effort without Bon.

It turned out to be not only the biggest album ever released by an Australian band, but it is one of the biggest selling albums ever, right up there with Michael Jackson's "Thriller" and Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon".

To date the LP has sold over 50 million copies worldwide.

Happy 44th Birthday to "Back in Black". It was a wise choice to continue and your fans thank you! Is this one of your favorite AC/DC albums?

71 years ago, his ascent to being the King!

It wasn't the start of Rock and Roll by any means, but it was the start of "Big Time" Rock and Roll…

On July 18, 1953, an eighteen-year-old truck driver went to the Memphis Recording Service at 706 Union Avenue to record a novelty 45 for his mother's birthday.

The young truck driver was Elvis Presley. He made two recordings, "My Happiness" and "That's When Your Heartaches Begin," saying they were a birthday present for his Mother. Elvis later admitted that he made the records to see "what I sounded like," as his mother's birthday was actually in April.

It cost Elvis $3.98 to do the recordings. Marion Keisker, the studio owner Sam Phillips assistant, liked what she heard and took down Presley's information and notes that he is a "good ballad singer."

As she recalled years later: "I said, 'What kind of singer are you?' He said, 'I sing all kinds.' I said, 'Who do you sound like?' He said, 'I don't sound like nobody.'"

And so it began, 71 years ago today.

This really is an important date in the overall scheme of this stuff.

Happy 77th Brian. You and the guys from Queen rocked our lives!

Happy 77th Brian. You and the guys from Queen rocked our lives!

Happy 77th birthday to Sir Brian Harold May CBE (born 19 July 1947). He is an English musician, songwriter, record producer, animal rights activist and astrophysicist. He achieved worldwide fame as the lead guitarist and backing vocalist of the rock band Queen, which he co-founded with singer Freddie Mercury and drummer Roger Taylor. His guitar work and songwriting contributions helped Queen become one of the most successful acts in music history.

May previously performed with Taylor in the progressive rock band Smile, which he had joined while he was at university. After Mercury joined to form Queen in 1970, bass guitarist John Deacon completed the line-up in 1971. They became one of the biggest rock bands in the world with the success of the album A Night at the Opera and its single "Bohemian Rhapsody". From the mid-1970s until 1986, Queen played at some of the biggest venues in the world, including an acclaimed performance at Live Aid in 1985. As a member of Queen, May became regarded as a virtuoso musician and was identified with a distinctive sound created through his layered guitar work, often using a home-built electric guitar called the Red Special. May wrote numerous hits for Queen, including "We Will Rock You", "I Want It All", "Fat Bottomed Girls", "Flash", "Hammer to Fall", "Save Me", "Who Wants to Live Forever" and "The Show Must Go On".

Following the death of Mercury in 1991, aside from the 1992 tribute concert, the release of Made in Heaven (1995) and the 1997 tribute single to Mercury, "No-One but You (Only the Good Die Young)" (written by May), Queen were put on hiatus for several years but were eventually reconvened by May and Taylor for further performances featuring other vocalists. In 2005, a Planet Rock poll saw May voted the seventh-greatest guitarist of all time. He was ranked at No. 33 on Rolling Stone's 2023 list of 250 greatest guitarists of all time. In 2012, he was further ranked the second-greatest guitarist in a Guitar World magazine readers poll. In 2001, May was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Queen and, in 2018, the band received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.

The Go - Go's released their debut LP "Beauty and the Beat" on July 8, 1981. The album was preceded by the single and signature song "We Got the Beat", which became a massive club hit in Europe and, later, the United States. When the album was eventually released, it steadily climbed the Billboard 200 chart, ultimately peaking at number one, where it remained for six consecutive weeks. The LP sold in excess of two million copies and reached double platinum status, making it one of the most successful debut albums of all time.

Do any of you ever pull out your copy of this album and give it a listen?

Happy 43rd Birthday to The Go Go's LP "Beauty and the Beat"!!

What a great album!

On July 2, 1981, Foreigner released their 4th album simply titled "4", but many call it "Foreigner 4." Several singles from the album were hugely successful, including "Urgent", "Waiting for a Girl Like You" and "Juke Box Hero".

The album was an immediate smash worldwide, holding the #1 position on the Billboard album chart for a total of 10 weeks. It eventually sold over seven million copies in the United States alone.

Now be honest. How many of you crank the volume up on your car radio when ever "Juke Box Hero" comes on. We believe it is meant to be played at full volume!!

"Sports" by Huey Lewis & The News was the #1 album on the Billboard charts. It reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 on June 30, 1984, and ultimately charted for 160 weeks. Sports was ranked No. 2 on the Billboard year-end album chart for 1984 and spawned four top-ten hits on the Billboard Hot 100, with "Heart and Soul" and "The Heart of Rock & Roll" earning Grammy Award nominations. Sports also did very well internationally, where most of its singles charted in the top 40 in multiple countries. The album has been certified 7× Platinum by the RIAA.

The title of the album was a play on the band's name. The cover art features a photo of the band at the 2 AM Club, a bar located in Mill Valley, California, where the band had performed during its early days. A bar was chosen for the shoot because the band reasoned that most people watched televised sporting events in bars.[

The lead single, "Heart and Soul", peaked at number 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. The album's second release, "I Want a New Drug", turned out to be the band's second best-selling single, peaking at number 6 on the Hot 100 and eventually being certified gold in 1989, with sales of 1 million copies (although this would be considered platinum by modern single certification standards). The third single from the album, "The Heart of Rock & Roll", continued the band's success, peaking at number 6 on the Hot 100.
