FUN FACT FRIDAY: Did you know the Music Hall is not the first home of The Great Organ? It was originally commissioned for the Boston Music Hall and installed there in 1863. After 21 years, it was removed and placed in storage, eventually ending up at auction. Edward F. Searles purchased it and worked with architect Henry Vaughan to design the Serlo Organ Hall as its new home. The hall was renamed in 1946 to reflect the new nonprofit organization that still operates today. Photos show The Great Organ in its first home and its installation in Methuen.

We, like many in the organ community, mourn the passing of Barbara J. Owen (January 25, 1933 - October 14, 2024). We gratefully remember her years of dedicated service as an MMMH trustee, Archivist, and the author of the definitive history, "The Great Organ at Methuen." Barbara was often found in the audience at the Hall, attending concerts as recently as this summer. We extend our deepest sympathy to her family and friends.

Families, get your blankets ready! Our annual Storytime at MMMH with the Nevins Memorial Library is next Tuesday starting at 10am. Children are invited to bring a blanket and stuffed animal to sit right up front for the stories. Organ accompaniment is provided by Raymond Hawkins. This event is FREE and open to the surrounding communities as well.
