What is one of the first questions we see when you first start planning your wedding or event? 💍 “Where do I even start?!” Fortunately, we have amazing planners we work with, such as Nathalie with @averylovelywedding_ , who share their insights with us! 📝 Nathalie’s advice? Start with the big vendors: your venue, your caterer, your photographer, your wedding or event planner… Take a break (depending on how long your engagement or planning season is). 😌 Then, a few months out, focus more on the design details. It’s helpful to go into the planning process with a ‘philosophical’ design in mind, such as, “I want a winter wonderland theme,” or, “I want a casual backyard feel for my wedding,” as that will help you with choose the big vendors. But as for the smaller details that will bring your philosophical design to life? Leave those for a few months out from your wedding date. ⏰ Otherwise, it’s very easy to change your mind a hundred times about the finer details when you have a long time to still decide. I was listening to the betchesbrides podcast this morning, and it reminded me of the option to do a cocktail-style reception rather than a whole sit-down dinner. 🍤 This can save money in two big ways: 1️⃣ Venue: when couples choose to do a cocktail-style reception, we provide the venue for four hours instead of six and offer a nice discount off our regular pricing. Still plenty of time to celebrate with loved ones but without the larger price tag! 2️⃣ Catering: serving passed or stationary appetizers is a cost-effective way to feed guests and eliminate the cost of full meals. With summer comes our “off” season. ✨ Personal story ✨ My grandma, who had been looking forward to my wedding for YEARS, caught Covid two days before and couldn’t get on her flight from Ohio to Florida to attend our wedding in person. That news was devastating. 💔 However, she decided to use her flight credit and fly down to Florida a few weeks ago by herself, despite not having flown in decades and not being able to get around too well by herself. The weekend she visited was one of the best weekends I’ve had in recent memory (and I’ve been blessed with many beautiful weekends). Having that one-on-one time with her was invaluable as I was able to learn more about her life and our family in those couple of days than in the entire last decade. Independent, determined, loyal…I now see where I get a lot of my attributes from. And luckily, our friends and talented photographers @robandalecaptures were able to help us surprise her last-minute with a photoshoot, where I put on my wedding dress and Mike put on his suit so we could get the photos with her that we weren’t able to at our wedding. These memories are eternal and the meaning, immeasurable. Thank you @robandalecaptures for capturing these moments for us so perfectly. 😭 Side note: This is also why we include in all our wedding packages, an extra 2 hours to come to the venue - before or after your wedding day - to get those important photos you might not be able to on your actual wedding day. It’s also why we have a wifi access point in the venue so you can stream your wedding for any loved ones who can’t make it in person. And since our dog wasn’t invited to our wedding, we were also able to get pictures with her. 🤍

Just couldn’t help ourselves…May the 4th be with you. We wanted to make our special day as personalized and fun as possible, and one way we did that was by surprising our guests with the Star Wars theme song as we exited the ceremony!
