ABOUT CAFEINA::: Nestled in the heart of the Wynwood Art District, Cafeina is singular. A joint lounge, gallery, tapas-style restaurant and event space, the eclectic hotspot layers art upon nightlife upon celebrated cuisine for something completely different, since 2009. The Miami New Times calls this 23rd Street outpost “the hangout of choice for many locals in the know.” Encompassing all that is exciting about this burgeoning neighborhood, Cafeina is dark, sultry and exotic—a kind of elegant hipster’s paradise. Inside this manor-esque parlor, plush couches and smooth tables sit atop embroidered rugs. A dramatic chandelier gives the room a sensuous, dim glow—and while it’s still bright enough to see your Goat Cheese Croquettes, the room feels swank and sexy. Then there’s the bar, serving up cocktails like Café con Leche Martinis and spicy Hot Passions—fresh, unexpected, divine. Bartenders use ingredients like basil and tamarind syrup, and glasses are swirled with fresh fruits and herbs. Sitting at the dark wood counter will put you in prime people-watching position: a plus, as the crowd feels as funky-cool as the interior itself. Outdoors, underneath light-latticed-tree-branches, a DJ spins an eclectic dance-worthy mix on an authentic vinyl turntable.
