Earlier this week, I gave myself the gift of inspiration by attending a workshop hosted by on The Art of Digital Collage. I was feeling creatively uninspired, but attending workshops and learning new skills always helps to get me out of my creative rut. This workshop was an absolute pleasure to attend and helped inspire me to create my first Digital Collage art made in 's style.

On this Mother's Day, I want to celebrate not only Celebrate my beautiful Mother and Sister but all the mamas, abuelas, stepmothers, tias, and women who are like mothers to us and our children. Motherhood is a challenging journey, and having a supportive community of women around you makes it easier. So let's celebrate the strength, resilience, and love of all the incredible women who have made a difference in our lives.

Last year in May, I was in Pennsylvania anxiously waiting for the arrival of my niece. As I love to celebrate every occasion, I recruited my niece to plan a welcome home party for her mom and baby sister.

We started by going outside and gathering beautiful flowers from their yard, which we soaked to get rid of any little hitchhikers. We then made the cutest little flower arrangements.

Next, we decided on the menu, which consisted of fresh fruits, croissants and cream cheese, pound cake, tea, and coffee. We also had a cake made of pancakes, because what's a celebration without cake?

Lastly, we chose a tea party theme for the decor. We searched the house for items to use, and my niece brought out her little storage boxes, a tea set, her play hats, and her carousel horse. Everything came together perfectly. We found my sister's lace placemats, bought the plates and napkins from Dollar Tree, and made the banners.

The result was a cozy and dainty little tea party to welcome home the sweetest baby girl. It's hard to believe that a whole year has flown by so quickly, and here we are planning and prepping for her first birthday.

It's March.. This means it is National Craft Month, an annual celebration of creativity & and crafting, which is very fitting because it is also my birthday month. 🤎

So clearly, I have taken a nearly 2 year hiatus from posting on this account, so I'll try my very best to start sharing here again. I'm still working, the shop is still up and running. The truth is posting and trying to create content just started to feel like a huge burden for me. To help give me the push, I'll be doing my best to keep up with challenge.

So here we go. Day 1 storytime:

I am Karla, the Maker behind & .

Karlita is what I've been called by loved ones my whole life. I've been asked if it bothers me that people still call me Karlita at my grown age 😂🤣 but the truth is It doesn't bother me one bit.

Since I can remember arts, crafts, and just creating with my hands, have been my pockets of peace.

From designing and handmaking items to styling parties, or just simply hosting at home for my own friends and family, is something that is so therapeutic for me and honestly brings me so much joy.

Karlita's Kreations is a labor of love and has been such an amazing journey filled with ups and downs and so many stories.

One of my favorite stories is creating this page, which led to meeting my dear friend
it's been years of video chats, messages, collaborations & big plans. She is such a genuine, sweet, & caring person.
Through my hiatus and my uninspired moments, Marilyn keeps me motivated and gives me inspiration. 🫶🏼 Amiga, you are the absolute best!

The connections & community are what bring me back, so here's to logging in, posting, and becoming active on the page again.

This past weekend I hosted a Valentine's Sunset Picnic on the beach. We enjoyed a night under the moon, near the ocean, we the people we love.
This event came with a surprise announcement....

I am OBSESSED with the end results of these $5 peel & stick tiles from Dollar Spot. $5 really gave me a whole new bookcase with some tiles to spare.

I can't believe I forgot to take a before picture. The same items were drowning in the darkness of the bookshelf before.

The only picture I have is from when I used it as a drink bar for a last min Galentines Brunch in 2020. You can see in that picture how boring, dark, and just blah it looked. Can't wait to style it up now for every occasion now.

Oh and just an FYI these tiles are transparent only the design is solid black so painting the shelf backing white was a must. Just think of the endless possibilities with different colors.

My Wildkratts caketopper but add a
little 🤌🏻...... Pink to it. 💖

I designed this topper for my neice a few years back and it has been a best seller ever since I added it to the shop. When I made this topper for my neice there wasn't very much decor to be found on this theme atleast not on Etsy. I only remember of 1 other shop besides mine selling a Wildkratts topper back then.
With my babygirl just celebrating another birthday last week it had me reflecting on
1) how my neice is such a big inspiration in my creativity and my shop.
2) How much this topper as evolved since the first time I created it.

Anyhow I'm loving how this request to add a little pink to my topper turned out and I hope this little one loves it as much as I do.
