Thanks to the support of our amazing community we opened early this year! Our spring cleaning included a lot of snow removal and some creativity to keep the floors clean from our snow boots.

The Mica Event Hall began in 1890 as a Grange Hall for our community. Last night, thanks to Lane Mathews, a junior at FHS, and community members the hall returned to its roots as a Grange.

The definition of Grange is a social organization that encourages families to band together to promote the economic and political well-being of the community and agriculture.

We listened to each other, and the students as they lifted their voices in advocacy for a yes vote for the levy. Some will graduate before the effects of this vote come to fruition, but they were there, lifting their voices and asking adults to vote for them and the next generation.

There is a tribe in Africa called Masai whose traditional greeting to each other is “Casserian Engeri.” It means, “And how are the children?” They do not ask each other, “How are you?” or “How's your day?” but rather they ask about the next generation.

According to data from the Office Of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) our children are graduating at a higher rate than the state average, our students who attend 90% or more of school days well exceeds the state average, our classroom sizes are smaller than the state average, our teachers have greater years of experience than the state average, and that leads me to say our children are well. I want to keep this as a goal for our community to be able to continue to say our children are well. We may differ on the actions that lead to that answer. For that reason, I again lift up the purpose of the Grange, to promote political well- being, so I ask our community to please vote.

We have come to the end of our season and I want to thank everyone for sharing your special life moments with us. I look forward to opening the doors again in March of 2024 for more celebrations of marriages, births, graduations, birthdays, and anniversaries. Mica Grange LLC

The Mica Grange was built during the time when Mica was known for it’s logging industry. Standing for over 100 years, the last time the hall was used for a community event was September 3rd, 2005 for our wedding! After our wedding the hall was sold and became a private residence and in-home business. In the spring of 2019 we were blessed with the opportunity to bring back the Mica Grange under the ownership of Mica Grange LLC. We are working on this community treasure with the dream of having a place for our community to come together again for fun, family activities and events.
