Sweet Hydrangea Floral Design Boutique style floral design My passion for flowers started when I was a little girl. I sometimes even made homemade "perfume" out of the petals!

I would spend my days picking flowers from the side of my rural CT road, and skip home to create arrangements for my mother. Her peony bushes, roses on the arbor, rhododendron, zinnias, dahlias, daisies and lily of the valley would be picked clean. Fast forward to 2005, when my brother and his fiance were getting married. It was a small ceremony on a lake in Louisiana. When I found out that she di

d not have a bouquet, I immediately drove to the super Walmart in town, grabbed a bunch of flowers and supplies, and crafted a bridal bouquet in the hotel room. That simple bouquet sparked the realization that I needed to do more! Soon after, my faithful friends asked me to create floral designs for their showers, banquets and weddings. I learned by doing, and my hobby became something bigger. I have been so fortunate to have designed arrangements for countless weddings and other events. Each type of flower - its color, texture, shape - inspires me each time I work with it. I especially enjoy working with clients to be able to create the vision they dream of. Like Claude Monet, "I must have flowers always and always."

Light and airy height!

One of my favorite designs is to do half of the centerpieces high and the other half low. It adds such a beautiful dimension to the event space, and is very interesting to the eye.

When choosing the height of centerpieces, it’s important to keep in mind that if a centerpiece is not high enough or low enough, it can impede your guests’ views of each other, and their ability to interact across the table (unless you need to keep Aunt Suzy from talking with Cousin Alex 😂😂)

If you see me sitting by my lonesome, having deep conversations with these “ugly-potato-looking-things,” don’t worry…I’m not crazy!

I’m just digging, cleaning, dividing, talking to, encouraging and apologizing to my dahlia tubers before they go in storage for the winter 😂😂

I’m their biggest fan!

Okay, maybe that’s a little crazy….

Underrated flower alert!!!

This is Ammi Dara, aka Chocolate Lace Flower (cousin to Queen Anne’s Lace…and carrots!)

This flower is probably one of my favorite to grow. It produces umbrella blooms of colors ranging from blush to burgundy to chocolate, is super prolific, self-seeds, is an incredible filler flower, grows all season, presses beautifully, and when it starts to seed, has the coolest pods that can be used as accents or be dried.

We have had several frosts here in Connecticut, and this one plant is still going strong!

{who spies a little guy 🐝?}

if you do not already have this in your garden, I highly suggest adding it in.

Which do you prefer - a traditional boutonniere, or a pocket square?

⭐️ Homecoming season ⭐️

Corsages/boutonnières/pocket squares/headpieces are some of my most favorite pieces to design. I love the intricacy, texture and detail (and time!) that goes into them.

These two weren’t afraid to incorporate some local, seasonal flowers to add a pop of color to their night! 🌻

🍰 THE CAKE 💫

When I first started floral designing, this was super stressful for me (once you stab a stem into a $1000 baked good, there is no going back!).

Now that I’ve done so many, and gotten comfortable with different designs, it’s one of my very favorite projects of the day!!! I especially love all the color in yesterday’s beautiful wedding cake…

Our Story

My passion for flowers started when I was a little girl. I would spend my days picking flowers from the side of my rural CT road, and skip home to create arrangements for my mother. Her peony bushes, roses on the arbor, rhododendron, zinnias, dahlias, daisies and lily of the valley would be picked clean. I sometimes even made homemade "perfume" out of the petals! Fast forward to 2005, when my brother and his fiance were getting married. It was a small ceremony on a lake in Louisiana. When I found out that my brother’s fiance did not have a bouquet, I immediately drove into town, grabbed a bunch of flowers and supplies, and crafted a bridal bouquet in the hotel room. That simple bouquet sparked the realization that I needed to do more! Soon after, my faithful friends asked me to create floral designs for their showers, banquets and weddings. I learned by doing, and my hobby became something bigger. Before I knew it, I wasn’t just designing for friends and friends-of-friends; instead, I was stepping foot into something I only, one day, dreamed of doing! Since then, I have been so fortunate to have designed arrangements for countless weddings and many other events. Each type of flower - its color, texture, shape - inspires me each time I work with it. I especially enjoy working with clients to be able to create the vision they dream of. My clients invigorate me with their ideas and different styles!

From wild and bohemian, to structured and traditional, I’ve got you covered :)

In addition to fresh flowers, I have also embarked on a home-decor and class teaching journey. Creating everlasting pieces out of sola wood, faux, and dried flowers for people to display in their homes has been so much fun! Teaching classes on designing fresh floral arrangements and home decor pieces has added and incredible social element to this floral design adventure!

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my page!
