Today, I'm going to get a little vulnerable and share a life lesson that I've always known but honestly have been ignoring for some time.

Recently, I booked a special treat for myself that I had wanted to do forever, but every time I thought about it I decided it wasn't in the budget. In my mind I hadn't "earned it" (whatever that means), or I just didn't have enough time.

I've been reminded over and over in life that time is fleeting. So, on an impulse one day...

I DID it! It felt so good to do something all for myself. I had to pay for it on credit (GASP) which is not like me at all.

I'm usually always asking for permission, but this time I gave it to myself. And it FELT SO GOOD!! I felt invigorated!

What I thought would make me feel selfish and guilty ended up fueling me more than I ever could have imagined.

It was like I could see myself clearly again. The next morning I woke up feeling energized and ready to take on the world.

This is just a little reminder that loving ourselves isn't selfish. It's life-giving for ourselves and those around us.

We had a frantically fun time with all you ghouls and guys during Downtown Midland, Michigan Halloween Trick-or-Treating last night. 👻💀The costumes were creative. Some were even a little terrifying. Our studio team gave away 390 treats, 267 clicks and 89 images to the participants who came our way. 🎃📸

Love is in the air… I was honored when I received the call to capture this surprise proposal. Similar to the high school seniors I capture, I have been blessed to witness Bailey grow from a young boy into an honorable and respectable man. I can tell that he and Leah are a perfect match and surrounded by a large loving family. Congratulations to the future Mr. & Mrs.

Senior season at the studio has been fast and furious, but is starting to wrap up. There’s still a little time if you need to sneak your 2025 graduating senior in for a session before those yearbook photo deadlines, but hurry! Those deadlines are coming fast and furious, too!
Check out some of my favorite captures of Jade who joined me for walk through downtown this summer. You would never know that this young lady was a tad timid and nervous to be captured by my lens.

Did you know that I have been chasing and capturing the aurora borealis for about a decade? This last year, I have begun to study the various data points of aurora and when / where I can capture the lights dance in and around the City and County of Midland.
The results have been astounding and exciting as I’ve captured aurora dance over the Tridge, the water tower, Currie Parkway Bridge and Bullock Creek Highschool as seen here. Many of these locations are considered to have too much light pollution to view or capture the lights from, yet I have.

I’m so excited to be back downtown with another Photo Booth for Flip Flops on the Blacktop - Jimmy Buffett Tribute Night!

Now, on a completely unrelated note, we are gearing up for another special concert night in Downtown Midland on Saturday, August 17 from 6-9pm: Flip Flops on the Blacktop! 🏝

Come experience a tropical escape without the obscene travel costs in Downtown Midland! There will be a photo booth provided by Christina Wiggins Photography, island decorations (I've had two inflatable palm trees and a bunch of beach balls in my office for a month now, help me!), and a live performance from 7-9pm by the premier Jimmy Buffett tribute band, Air Margaritaville!

I am the mom who knows which photo was the last. The mom who wishes there could be even just one more. I am thankful for my photographer friend who took those pictures when my body wasn’t ready. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have that photo of my little girl. The last one. This is a thought that crosses my mind every time I click the shutter for a client. What if it is the last one for them? It needs to be a good one. It needs to be one to cherish every time. We are not promised tomorrow. My promise to you is that with every click I care just like it was my last click.
Her name is Audrey Ann and her 11th birthday would have been tomorrow. Celebrate your loved ones every day.

In case you were not able to see the Aurora Borealis this weekend, here is a video I captured in my phone (not high quality) while I was capturing images with my camera. Being able to capture the aurora dance over our city’s Tridge was a pipe dream bucket list item that I never thought would actually happen. Light pollution in Midland is strong, especially downtown near Dow’s plant.
