Hurricane Bird's Nest Fern (Asplenium nidus) is this weeks plant pick.
The Hurricane Bird's Nest Fern are a variety of Birds Nest Ferns native to tropical regions around the world. They are an epiphytes, which means they grow on other plants such as tree trunks or tree limbs collecting rain water and nutrients from the air. They are easy to grow house plants, long living and non toxic to dogs and cats. They will thrive best in indirect sunlight (East or West facing window). They love a little humidity so they would make a perfect plant for in the kitchen and/or bathroom. Hurricane Birds Nest Ferns are considered one of the best air purifying plants as its greatest quality is its efficient conversion of CO2.

Voodoo Lilies are starting to sprout. We will continue to show their growth weekly including measurements. Stop by to see them in person and/or take one home so you can see this stunning flower daily.

Voodoo Lilies bloom once per year (although younger plants may need a few years growth before they bloom) This plant starts growth in the spring planted in soil, this is called the leaf stage and grows quickly and very tall. In the fall the leaves die and the bulb gets removed from the soil where it lays dormant for months. Late winter or very early spring it starts to sprout (flower stage) the flower will continue to grow daily until reaching its full potential (which can be quite large). The unique flower shows its beauty and pungent aroma for a SHORT time before starting its lifecycle all over again.
