The social media posts may have slowed down, but the Scaly Tails experiences have not!!🤩

Our family is currently in the process of moving so it will most likely be pretty quiet on socials for the next month & a half or so as we pack, prep, unpack & do all the things in between🤪

We had so much fun this day! Kids & adults were lining up to interact with the animals and I truly love when everyone gets involved🩷

A couple weeks ago I got to meet the lovely people of .creekfarm!! Their daughter is very into reptiles lately so they combined her interest with school studies & we got to bring her a very fun-filled science lesson/experience! I loved how fascinated she was with each animal but it was obvious her favorite was Blanche😍🥰 We even got on the ground to watch the snakes slither, and measured Nagini next to her snake stuffies🤩 Also had to track down Sheldon in their yard a time or two😂 All in all, we had THE BEST time!☺️

If you have not heard of Flat Creek Farm, I highly recommend you checking them out!! I am looking so forward to having them come out for my own son’s birthday! The family is amazing & they pretty much do what I do but with mammals (a lot more people’s speed if we’re being honest😅).

So remember- yes, we come to birthdays, daycares, summer camps, nursing homes, & scout troop meetings, but we also will come for a family day or homeschool science lesson🤗

A couple weekends ago I got to celebrate a friend I met earlier this year at Herpetology Hobbyists! It was so good to see him again & I loved how much he remembered learning from our time at club in the Spring!

Last week was lizard week at Herpetology Hobbyists🦎

We had so much fun learning about & holding the different type of lizards I have! We read a book, & played a game where we acted like we had sticky tongues [slappy hands] & tried catching flies. (Fake flies that look crazy real & all I have to say is I am so glad I do not have to catch my food with my tongue🤪)

We have such a blast at HH but one thing I don’t talk about enough is how cool it is to see the friendships that form from it! Watching these kids get together to learn about something that excites them, all while meeting other children with the same interest, is one of the best parts & warms my heart so much🥰🫶🏻

I truly love that I get to do this🦎😍

Went to grab a treat the other day (peach cobbler icecream) from our local Kline’s & OMG, it was so good!🤩 If you haven’t been to before, you need to go!! Anddd they have a new flavor each week! Trust me when I say I’ll be back in a few days for a quart of the banana pudding flavor😋🍦

I did happen to have the animals in the truck with me after leaving a show so we stopped for a bit to hang out with the crew! We had so much fun🐍🦎🐢 Thank you to the staff that works there with bright smiles & upbeat attitudes, we will for sure be seeing you again!🩷🫶🏻

Last week at a birthday party Sheldon ran into a look alike & was very confused🤔 However, I was in awe and now I need a wooden tortoise sculpture🤩

“Are these all your pets?” (When I bring 10 reptiles to a show🤭), “Do all of these guys wander around your house?”, “Where do you keep all of them?” —

The three main questions I get when I tell people what I do or meet them at a show😅 It’s been awhile since I’ve shared my office / reptile room & where other enclosures are sprinkled throughout the house.

I took a couple of these pics before the lights turned on in enclosures this morning. I’m curious now, is this what you imagined it would look like? 🤔

It’s been extremely quiet over here but we recently finished wrapping up a busy summer full of summer camp & daycare visits! We’ve lucked out getting to return to many places we visited last year, running into ST friends we’ve met along the way, & even having one of my best friends join + assist in un/loading animals at an event🤗

Then this week was spent jumping into the first week of school & sports for my kiddos. I hope everyone had an amazing week getting back into the swing of things🏫📚✏️🚌📓🚸

Throughout the summer (& currently at this moment) we have been taking care of some scaly & furry friends as well! We’ve had the pleasure of getting to hang out with our beardie friends Spike, Milo, Max, & his Guinea sisters; Lemon & Nibbles!🤗 Don’t forget if ever in need we offer reptile boarding + small pet boarding! (This includes the month of December when we will not be taking any events).

Couple of reminders I did want to share -
•We only have ONE spot left for Herpetology Hobbyists this fall!
•Fall parties keep pouring in so be sure to book your reptile adventure as far in advance as possible!
•January-March is my busiest for school visits & those fill up FAST!
•Yes, we are accepting bookings for 2025!! We already have some all the way out til end of April, so no, it’s NEVER to early to get on the books. It’s actually best to do it this way & move it later if you need to!

This pirate party adventure was so much fun! The guests all walked in in their best pirate outfits & I loved every second of it!

Some kids were nervous about the reptiles & while others were so proud of themselves for holding things they’ve never held before (hence my excitement in the fourth photo😅)!

You may notice George the chameleon on a sword or hat and that was to help those that wanted to interact with him but weren’t ready to hold him, so we improvise! Whatever it takes to make everyone comfortable🫶🏻🦎🐢🐍

Most people don’t know this, but my mom is deathly afraid of snakes. The fact that she comes in my house is a huge step for her.

I think we all know someone that has a fear of snakes, but we broke that in our home & my kids don’t fear them because they know all about them & understand them. That doesn’t mean they are careless, because I instill caution in them along with knowledge.

This summer we have been BUSY BUSY & we absolutely love it! With that we have visited daycares, nursing homes, & summer camps of ALL kinds! One of my favorite parts about visiting the summer camps is running into some familiar faces; whether kiddos I’ve met along this Scaly Tails journey, or from life’s many adventures, & even friends’ children… it is always THE BEST SURPRISE!🤩

I get so excited seeing faces I recognize just as much as I am to meet new faces!!

I love this shot that his mom got😍

This family decided to have a Scaly Tails event for just them. We approached this reptile adventure a little differently as the kids weren’t too interested in hearing many facts, but wanted to experience how the animals moved, and discover which ones liked to “cuddle”. It was fun to switch it up and I definitely will always go with the flow of the child(ren)!

So even if you think your child may not sit for the educational portion, just let me know! We can skip it and go straight to holding/interacting with the animals! I have found some kids do better when they get to lead the experience. This allows their brain to come up with questions that they actually are curious to know!
