This one's personal. If you haven't heard the whole song, check it out. These flowers were inspired by it, playing on the balance of light and dark with the hopefulness of springtime, happiness, and new beginnings. Featuring black hydrangea, purple Star Platinum roses, delphinium, scabiosa, ranunculus, bells of Ireland, and fragrant stockflower. The arrangement has a lightly spicy sweet fragrance. (That means you'll have to get pretty close to smell it, according to the team here.)

Well folks, it looks like the weather wizards all agree lots of snow on Tuesday but we will be warmed up and showered and ready for deliveries by Friday. (It's supposed to warm up and rain Wednesday and Thursday.)

All premium blooms, mixed in Valentine colors for an elegant, luxurious, sweetly fragrant bouquet that is a regular pleaser every Valentine's! Seriously, this one's more popular than doing straight up roses. Hydrangeas, lilies, stockflower, and two types of roses. Yes, those balls (of hydrangea) are real and natural, not dyed or tinted or painted.
As a bonus today, we have a side by side of "standard" and "deluxe" the glass themselves, one is 8" and one is 9" so the glass is a minimal aspect of the height difference. The standard size of anything we do is going to be stunning, and that's perfect. The deluxe is more. More stems, more blooms, bigger display. If your loved one has the space to display the deluxe, then it's a fabulous choice! If space is a concern, standard is still a stunner. As with many of our arrangements, this is available in Premium size, which is even more fabulousness in a 10-11" vase.

If I'm going to spend my points, carbs, calories, etc on a chocolate, it's going to be good. I'm forever looking for small batch, high quality, handmade treats. We had these taste tested by some ladies at another business (so no internal bias) and their feedback is that the candy shell is very flavorful, very thick, subtle flavor not too overwhelming, definitely rich. They were divided on whether the ganache itself differs from truffle to truffle, so it's possible the ganache is the same delicious fudgey "cake batter" or "brownie batter" flavor chocolate and all the flavor shift is in the shell. 100% said they would be excited to get a box of these as a gift.
We all thought the green would be mint, but our experience was just dark chocolate. Flavor profile from the manufacturer: Hard candy shell with gouey ganache. Cappuccino, Irish Cream, Tiramisu, Butter Pecan, Raspberry, Hazelnut.

Hot Like Wasabi ... Starting off our Valentine Postings this year with the unconventional. I present to you my personal favorite, green Wasabi roses! Bucking the usual trend of tall red roses with green leaves, we have green roses in a low bowl (or cylinder, limited supplies) paired with red agonis. Fun fact, agonis a willowy branch that remains green for most of the year, but turns red in late winter just in time for Valentine's Day in the northern hemisphere. Why the black bowl you might ask? Because anything else would distract from that vibrant green rose. What's that other leaf you see in the photo? We painted some supporting greenery a warm chocolate just for depth. Your person is not like the rest. Why should their flowers look like the rest?

I'm not big on politics. This time though I have to make a statement ... Not to take sides, but to share the trickle down effect it's about to have. We are coming up on Valentine's Day, with Mother's Day close behind. There will be tons of other holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, and more in between. With a 25%-50% tariff on Colombian goods, wholesale prices could double overnight. A massive percentage of flowers imported to the US originate from Colombia and Ecuador. As some buyers switch to other sources, prices at the those sources will go up because supply and demand. We might see hoarding. Whether we buy from South American growers or not, prices go up.

Locally grown is an option in the right season, but unfortunately for our region that season is not going to cover February through May or most of our fall wedding season.

This is a scary thing to share, because as a small business this is the equivalent of taking the bread out of my mouth. This is tax money going to ... Not small business. My ask of anyone reading this post is please remember that when we have to raise our prices, we are dying inside having to it.

Also, if you have considered buying from a direct mail "florist", make sure they are US based and grown, because a lot of the Big Wire Companies that sell those boxed flowers are getting them from South America via direct flights, and we don't know how many of those are going to get shut down. At least your local florist will get *something* to your Valentine, mother, etc. But an 800 service might not. Whether you choose my shop or any other, it's going to be critical to small shops for you to buy local.
