My first goal taking over, was to give y’all decent bathrooms. It’s coming along nicely and already, half way there!!

They’re functional for your upcoming events!!

As some of already know, a tree crashed down on our outside structure. Stuff happens, am I right.

Nature maybe.

The amount of (wo)man hours that was put into getting the venue up and running(for this year even at all), was outstanding!!

I’ve never seen such hard working folks. We had two weeks to get the bathrooms functional-to cleaning the tree and structure up, before our first event!! Pressure was on, But It went pretty smooth. Awesome crew supporting moose island, that’s for sure… and I Thank y’all.

That being said, we have no outside structure. 🤷🏽‍♀️

We do apologize for the inconveniences, it has, because it does for us too. However, We do have a shaded area up front!!
…but I also understand that it’s just different without that structure too. Sorry.

Just know, we are working on it(:

In the meantime, We are hoping to add some additions, to set that environment up nicer for you!

The tree has been removed In only a single day!!! Thanks to Mike Lute and his crew. His team got out there and didn’t stop till the job was done.

Mike Lute actually took the initiative to clean off our bridge just to give us a proper estimate. He didn’t have to and very well could have walked away and come back only when the bridge was accessible.. but he spent 1.5hrs of his VALUABLE time removing the debris without even knowing if he was going to get the initial job.
He didn’t care to be compensated for that work either. That’s an honest giving man.

Those work ethics are hard to come by these days. I’m just blown away by the community down there and the people that make it up. We have received so much support from strangers.

We are going to check out D.K’s Bar & Grill tomorrow night for their Mardi Gras theme prom night!!

Little backstory, I’m born and raised in New Orleans. Hence why I added DaSwamp to the name. Moose meet gator vibes😊

My husband is a born and raised Ohioan. Which is how we ended up moving here, five years ago!!

Yesterday, I stopped in D.ks for some bottled water for Mike’s crew, and noticed all their Mardi Gras decorations and just knew I was at home!! Not to mention the awesome bartender Kylee(: But If that ain’t a sign, i don’t know what is. So Hope to see y’all there.

Also, I found an old bottle under the tree that fell. The tree literally grew over top it. The bottle was dated back to 1935- 1965. it was when liquor was regulated by the federal government.

I wonder who sat under that tree, finishing that bottle off.

And to think, that bottle survived all these years, and I found it in perfect condition just standing straight up, as if someone just placed it there that day. That’s wild.

I’ve actually been buying vintage decorations, such as old beer cans and whiskey bottles, to decorate the bar. As if, I’m decorating the bar with old washed up cans and island debris. My goal is to decorate the island with second hand items. Giving the old, new life.

This bottle was meant for me to find. the tree was meant to come down now. I was meant to walk into Dks bar and I’m meant to bring this island back to life yall!! Enjoy the journey. It’s going to be so fun

🫣 this massive tree came down during that wind storm!!! Inside structure was untouched. How lucky!!!

Well, It needed an upgrade anyway 🤭

Bye bye bathrooms!!

Interesting discovery…. the men’s bathroom is a whole foot longer than the females bathroom…. I’m a little salty about it. But we will make up for that. Men will now use an outhouse on the far end of the island😆 just joking!!!! There’s no outhouse. Y’all can choose a tree.

Thank you to everyone who came out to the island for our August bands! We appreciate your support of live music and Moose Island. Badstone, Sunny Ledfurd, and New Wave Nation were great entertainers and the weather was fantastic. Also, a shout out to the Class of 1984! What a great turnout for your 30th year reunion.
