We are happy to announce our Thursday night show this week: The Sound Experiment + Yupanki 🎶

The Sound Experiment is a new music project launched by Bucks County’s Jesse Ketchel (Ketchel & Creeksnake, Oak Ash & Thorn) which also features multi-instrumentalist singer/songwriter Greg McGarvey and percussionist Steve Guarino. The Sound Experiment is a celebration of the spirit of improvisation; an opportunity to allow the music to carve its own path.

Yupanki is the conceptual music project of musician, artist, and writer Gregg Yupanki Bautista. Conjuring loop-based guitar arrangements by stacking layers of sound through a range of effects, Yupanki weaves through worlds of unspoken narratives. Often described as cinematic, the music follows the story of the titular character Yupanki - a time migrant with no memory of his past. It explores themes of self discovery and inner strength, connections to nature, as well as what it means to belong.

Drawing upon musical influences ranging from post-rock, ambient, Latin, experimental, and even his traditional Andean roots, fuzzy riffs are layered against droning textures, with percussion and contrasting dynamic guitar lines pitted against them in order to build the sonic space for Yupanki’s story to unfold.

Tonight we are happy to present Waterfront Blue, a band who has been evolving for over 10 years. Be there @ 6:30pm!

Vocalist Brenda K. Lee and guitarist Tom Schnabel have collaborated to create a fresh approach to American music. They frequently include other musicians, but at their core, the duo provides rich vocal entertainment over a solid guitar backdrop. Brenda’s international experience adds a stylistic, multilingual flare to their music. They perform a diverse repertoire in many venues, such as restaurants and festivals, including Musikfest and Allentown’s Miller Symphony Hall. They frequently work at Drexel University’s state of the art sound studios, recording covers as well as original compositions.

They have a simple philosophy: “We love to play and sing. When our listeners appreciate our passion, it is a special experience”. Check them out and consider Waterfront Blue for your next special event.

What kind of music do they play? The good kind of course!

We are happy to introduce the second of two weeks of “RUS @ The Vault”!

Tomorrow (Friday 10/25 @ 7pm)
• SPOOKY SPECIAL: “All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream.” ~Edgar Allan Poe — Join RUS and get your ghoul on for an evening of the macabre with our Spooky Special: Tales of Poe, a dramatic reading performed by the RUS Team. Why wear your Halloween costume just once? Celebrate the season with RUS’s own Ali Gilheany, Keith Strunk, and Laura Swanson as they share the captivating tales of Poe in an evening of delightful readings that invite you to explore the mysteries of imagination!
• Costumes not required

This Weekend (Sunday 10/27 @ 4pm)
• PLAY: Paper Birds — Join RUS for a staged reading of selections from “Paper Birds,” by Robert Miller II and directed by Steven Dennis. Scientists refer to this epoch as ‘Anthropocene’, representing awareness of the irreversible damage human activity has on our planet. This series of five short plays, each different in time and place, show human and non-humans facing their personal ‘end of the world’. Connecting the plays is a question; is it possible to imagine, in the face of our common catastrophe, a more just and equitable society?
• Audience Q&A will follow the reading. Adult content. Parental discretion is advised.
