Lanette had the privilege of designing the florals for her coworkers wedding. The brides choice was simple: white roses and red dahlias. We threw in a few white dahlias and lisianthus for extra texture.

A Tribute to Iva Fern’s Mother
Mom,
I can’t believe it’s a month today that you left us and flew Home to be with Jesus. In some ways it seems like yesterday that you were here with us and we cared for you as cancer took its toll. On the other hand it seems much too long since I’ve seen the twinkle in your eye and heard your voice. It’s difficult to grasp that I’ll never see you on earth again. Designing your flower bouquet was the hardest one I’ve ever done. I wished so much that you would have been here to admire it with me. But I know that you have all the flowers of heaven to enjoy now, and they are more beautiful than I can ever imagine.

I never knew grieving could be so hard. The past four weeks have been weeks of exhaustion, of tears, of asking ourselves if we did everything we could for you and of wondering what heaven is like. I wish you could tell me about it. Every day living takes effort, the simplest tasks require concentration, I drop items, dump things in the kitchen and wake up at odd hours during the night.

Mom, your absence breaks our hearts and leaves a big hole in our home no one can ever fill. You were a stabilizing influence in our lives. I’m so grateful for all the good memories we have and for the many things you taught us. As your only daughter, I treasure the memories of our daily walks to the mailbox, working outdoors and in the house together. Your words continue to ring in my mind. Thank you for showing us by your life how to be surrendered to God’s will even though His path for you wasn’t easy. I love you, Mom, and I am looking forward to meeting you again some glad day.

Iva Fern and Lanette had such fun finding a gorgeous patch of flowers on the west coast that we were graciously allowed to harvest from. Then visiting an amazing dahlia farm topped it all off. The only problem was, we wanted to cut all of them! 🤩

Enter Lanette:
This girl is the creative and encouraging team player. She cares deeply about relationships and longs to spread God’s beauty, love, and healing to others through flowers.
Lanette is employed as a graphic designer, where she shares her heart with the world though meaningful greeting cards. (You might be seeing some of those popping up on here eventually, since it’s impossible for her to keep the cards and flowers separated!) She also teaches design, dabbles in photography, and is basically the walking vocabulary for some of her coworkers.
People are very important to her, so spending quality time with her many friends is a highlight for her. She adores her nieces and nephew. She loves reading, singing, fishing, spike ball, and anything creative. Some words to describe her would be imaginative, sensitive, and compassionate.
Lanette pretty much loves any flower she can get her hands on, but a few special favorites are ranunculus, peonies, and David Austin roses.
Her bouquet style is elegant, whimsical, with a good sense of balance.

When you first meet her, you would say she is calm and quiet. After actually getting to know her, Iva Fern is adventurous and dramatic. She is the one who keeps us organized and trying new things. She is also the studious one on the team, and we are grateful for the knowledge she shares with us.
Iva Fern is the only girl in a family of three boys, and is a very vital part of her home. Aside from flowers and home life, she stays busy taking good care of her French Bulldogs, and helping out in various ways in the community. Servant-hearted would describe her well.
Iva Fern is zealous about traveling and has been privileged to visit 10 countries, with hopes of adding many more to her list yet. She loves all things plants, and is dreaming of a greenhouse someday.
Her favorite flowers in the garden are dahlias, ranunculus, and chrysanthemums.
Her bouquet style is restful, coordinated, with some elements of surprise.

Introducing Vanessa:
Vanessa is the primary farmer on the team. She thrives on planting, weeding, and keeping things growing, and does an excellent job at it! Our garden is at her home, so she’s the first one to see all the exciting new buds and blooms.
As the oldest in a family of three, she’s never lacking in things to do. She raises Australian Shepherd puppies, does some cleaning jobs on the side, and helps out wherever needed. She taught school last year, but is currently taking a break to focus more on flowers.
A word to describe Vanessa would be vivacious. She puts her whole heart into whatever she does, regardless if that’s farming, music, cooking, camping, sports, or simply living.
Her favorite flowers in the garden are snapdragons and sunflowers, and her bouquet style is bright, cheery, and a touch wild.
