Meet our new kitchen mates! Coffee, tea, brunch, and sandwiches coming soon Monday - Saturday. Help us celebrate at Lemon Tree PGH grand re-opening and holiday market on Nov 30th.
When Lemon Tree PGH entered the Millvale scene, they offered a “pay what you can” model for their coffee and added items to the Millvale Free Fridge and Pantry on the back porch of Millvale Community Library. They did this, and do this, to make the craft coffee experience more accessible to people who might not try it otherwise.
Owners Bobby Smith, Sam McCoy Smith, and Jason Hosterman were told by Jenny Jo Mendek (Hometown Tattoo Pgh and Rivertown Kidz) that if they showed up for Millvale, Millvale would show up for them. A short while later, Harold's Haunt opened their doors to give the Lemon Tree folks a physical space to cater to the morning crowd with coffee, sandwiches, and baked goods.
This fall, Lemon Tree is expanding into their own space at the Millvale Food + Energy Hub. Having been looped into the tight knit neighborhood, they’ve become a thread within Millvale’s unique Mr. Rogers cardigan. (Which has us asking, if each neighborhood had a cardigan, what would Millvale’s look like?)
“Our existence in the community is a very reciprocal thing and not just monetarily, but we socially support each other and share resources. Lemon Tree is not a thing we could do without the support of other people in the community,” Bobby said.
They’ll have the same delicious coffee, tea from Abeille Voyante Tea Co, and brunch offerings, including an expanded selection of baked goods. Stay tuned for limited hours in November with a Grand Re-Opening on November 30, Small Business Saturday, with local vendors including: From These Woods, FlavorDust, AudreyGurumi, Understory, and Houndstooth USA.
Going forward, hours of operation will be Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m, and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
In the meantime, let’s welcome Lemon Tree PGH to the Hub!
