🖼️ Skully Gustafson “In Space There Is No Sound”

Skully Gustafson ()was born in Kansas City, Missouri and at age five his family moved to Wausau, his art spans many different mediums there is a recognizable quality that runs through all of it; there’s no mistaking who made it.

With an interview with Urban Milwaukee in 2018, Gustafson had this to say about the current art scene; “Milwaukee is cheap and friendly, we have the Great Lakes, it’s a beautiful place. Unfortunately most of the world doesn’t see it as on the map for contemporary art so we get overlooked, but I think that’s what also makes it a gem. There is a great art community here.”

Tyanna Buie “Woman Holding Magnolia #2”

Tyanna Buie (), a visual artist with roots in Chicago, IL, and Milwaukee, WI, holds a BA from Western Illinois University and an MFA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has been part of residency programs such as the Joan Mitchell Center, Women’s Studio Workshop, and Vermont Studio Center. Committed to community engagement, Buie leads printmaking workshops and creates public art in underserved neighborhoods throughout Milwaukee and Madison.

A visiting artist and lecturer across multiple states, Buie's work has been showcased in prestigious galleries, including The Haggerty Museum of Art, The Milwaukee Art Museum, The Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit, and the International Print Center New York.

George H. Walker is a popular man within The George and Madcap Lounge walls. He was one of three prominent nineteeth-century founders of Milwaukee, along with Soloman Juneau and Bryan Kilbourn. During his time in Milwaukee, he and his business partners had grand visions for the city as a major metropolis and a commercial center. Walker was devoted to the growth of Milwaukee and an advocate for the expansion of transportation to compete with Chicago in the trade network. He was also known to be a skillful dancer.

You can find Mister Walker on the main floor of The George and downstairs in the Madcap lounge.
