Wisconsin Bride Best Of 2025 "The Sky's the Limit" was a night to remember. Surrounded by a room full of talent, we celebrated the hard work of everyone in the wedding industry.

/FRIEND/ "a person whom one knows and with whom one has a bond of mutual affection."

About 10 years ago my friends Jay and Megan asked me to officiate their wedding. Our families know each other. We all went to UW. Jay and I went to the same elementary school. And as God would have it, my future wife was the daughter of Jay's mom's best friend.

I had genuine joy to witness Jay and Megan become husband and wife. I knew their story and they trusted me to tell it on the biggest day of their life.

And today, even when I meet a new couple for the first time, I've learned that I can learn their story and tell it on their wedding day with the same genuine love and care that I put into Jay and Megan's ceremony all these years ago.

I am happy to call every bride and every groom I have the pleasure of working with, "friend".

You'd think this was a no-brainer, but I've seen enough pictures and attended plenty of ceremonies where the officiant forgot these 2 critical things. And trust me, it makes a BIG difference.

Nobody cares to hear the officiant's voice during vows. The officiant should tilt the mic towards the couple and leave it there.

Nothing looks more cold and unloving as a couple at the altar standing a foot away, not holding hands. Get close, be intimate, look at each other in the eyes, be romantic.
