I'm still healing from trauma of events past😒, like that one year a handful of us put chair covers on over 500 chairs🥺. (If it wasn't for the event staff coming in earlier and having a little time to assist, I don't know what we would do!)

I said it often and will say it again: Folks don't understand the intricacies that go into planning an event. If you have only planned parties and just had people pay in advance or at the door and you made sure you had bartenders and a dj, and maybe some food-that's awesome and that takes some effort too. That's how I started.

But you gotta be crazy organized, crazy detailed, creative, able to lead, and so much more (or lead a team who can be all things) or be just plain crazy to have the patience and wherewithal to plan a great event!!

Y'ALL!!!

Ok, I didn't necessarily want to go to this year because it was so much energy going last year, but I also have to keep in mind that it was right after my surgery. Essence Fest is this week and I am having fomo! I soooo wish I was there. The concerts are going to be great this year. The festival itself I'm sure it's going to be fantastic and OMG I can't believe I didn't plan to go!! 🥺

All I can do is reminisce on last year from these photos and videos I have. I think we need to plan a fierce girls trip down to the next year. What do you think?🤔

Are do we need to speak into existence that Fierce Unapologetically will be A PART of essence Fest next year???😯🤔🙏🏾😉

2 national recording artists/groups. 8 🔥 DJs. Gorgeous models ripping the runway. Steppers set. Awareness for matters in the political arena. Live artist painting. Food (ya'll smashed that). Plenty of beverages. Lights. Smoke. 3 impactful gentlemen in our city. A dope team. And an even doper crowd of beautiful people who followed the dress code (mostly).

If that don't make for a great event, I don't know what does!

If you stay in the city and you didn't attend, gon' ahead and sit the summer out!

Another great event for the city. I would healthily argue with anybody who says these gentlemen don't put on some of the best entertainment events this city has to offer, whether it's collectively or apart. Thanks fellas for continuing to allow me to be a part of it. ❤️

Whether it's for a private gathering, a wedding, a party, or even a travel getaway there's a good way to create your guest list that I've noted here so you won't end up regretting inviting who you invited or paying for a meal for someone who never shows up.

🎈Have you ever formally invited people to your party or gathering and they not show up, after they told you they were? You created custom invites, they RSVP'D, you included them in the per person dinner count, and they were a no show? Or you are trying to get your plans together for a group trip and someone says they're not going after you have had your travel agent quote you on excursions for a set number of people? Creating that guest list in 3 parts can definitely help narrow down this risk.

🎈If you set a deadline and stick to it hard, and be ok if the friend you really wanted to attend doesn't respond in time, people will start taking your plans seriously. You are the one paying for things so if you can't count them, they can't come!

🎈Again, it's your budget and your money spent. If you don't want to invite your cousin's new girlfriend that is the 3rd one this year, stand your ground.

🎈Growing up, kids couldn't be in the room when the adults were in the room talking. If you don't want kids at your event, make it clear and stick to it.

🎈And for those that have events made to the public where tickets were made available in advance, that "NO TICKETS AT THE DOOR" warning on your ticket page will either prompt them to get theirs early, or have to drive there only to be turned around at the door.

Today is the perfect day to say👋🏽!! And since it's a new month, I wanted to take a quick sec to re-introduce myself to some and introduce myself for the first time to others!

My name is Kisha, or moreso affectionately called Kish. 🎉 I am the owner/creator of Kish'D Entertainment Planning where I provide event and entertainment planning services. I am also the brand creator of the dope brand which was created to inspire women. I will be celebrating 6yrs for both of these this summer! 🎉 I am also a travel advisor where I plan trips (vacations, corporate retreats, family reunions, weddings, etc-see the crossover here😉) for those who want to travel around the world. I prefer to sit on the over being at a party, oddly, and I'm being more intentional about being productive and not busy this year. I love Dove chocolate candies an ice cream parlors. I ❤️ pizza!! I'm simple, but don't underestimate me. I consider myself to be super responsible. I don't care to argue or debate, and would rather practice effective communication to get the job done or problem resolved. I have a low tolerance for nonsense and would just rather live, love, laugh and enjoy life.

When I plan, coordinate, or manage events, I like to say that I do not just plan events, I create and I like to leave the KISH stamp on my clients events, giving them the Kish experience of great service, communication, understanding, and uniqueness. I work best when my clients are cooperative but can get the job done under pressure. I am looking to do something BIG and different for my event planning journey soon. So stick around and see what happens.

Funny how yesterday I did a post on the FIERCE IG page saying sometimes I believe for things that some people would call me crazy for. Then I got in the car and a song was playing that caught my attention; it said "Today everything changes". That was after I left an appointment and prayed for a blessing that only God will get credit for. At the end I said, "God, I'm asking for alot. Just do whatever you want!"

Then I see Tab in the Fierce Unapologetically shirt.

It's more than her wearing it because she's a celebrity, or folks going online to the FIERCE Shop to purchase.

It's a reminder that God is always listening and He gonna do what He wanna do, WHEN He wants to do it. He's for real always on time!!🙌🏾

Wanting to create an event that is at the top of your vision for your special day or celebration is always the best. But sometimes you're kind of hitting the ceiling of being able to go greater the next time around.

If Essence Fest has the top of the pick artists performing at their event one year, the attendees are going to expect it to be bigger and better the next year. And overall, that is the goal with events of this type.

With large scale events, you are planning for progression. And if you pull out all of the bells and whistles for one event, then the people are going to be expecting you to do it bigger and better each time.

And there's nothing really wrong with that. But you just have to consider the long-term so that you have the space, location, details and most importantly-the funds-to do it bigger and better next time around.

And if you can't, DON'T!

My discernment in coordinating events when I can is intentional. I'm not always available to plan an event and when I do, it has to be worth it-meaning impactful or purposeful, worth my time, and worth the money.

I shared a post from another dope in my stories that I agree with wholeheartedly. It said "I am of service. Not your servant."

It's good to get a reign on your position with your clients. I sometimes tell clients that they don't need a planner if they can or WANT to do a lot of the work themselves. I plan in the details-meaning depending on what you want, I provide an in-depth experience. I don't want to be hired to just send emails. Or for my input to not be considered. Because if it doesn't go well and I didn't give input, the negative always falls back on the planner.🤷🏾‍♀️

By all means, do your planning because it's YOUR event. Just make sure I know AND can do my part with your cooperation. Because if not, I can be on a beach somewhere😎.

I have this OBSURD dream where one day, while I'm still walking this earth (gotta be specific), somebody will throw me a phenomenal party🤗. I will sit back, tell them what I want, and let them to my heart's desire.

Now, I know as event planners and entertainment curators it is hard for us to really let go and let someone else create for us with the same mindset that we would have. But wouldn't it be awesome to be able to do that? And let somebody plan like you for you???

Of course, they would have their own style but creating your vision. I have found it challenging to let someone plan for me like I plan, because my attention to detail is just too much!😫

Unless he is a beard or clean-cut goatee, has a gorgeous smile and smells good😉.

Yep, I get it. If you're in business, you're supposed to be open when you say you're open, especially if you are a brick and mortar. But if you're a service business like an event coordinator, sometimes we have clients that we have to tend to in the wee hours of the night-talking to on the phone or replying back to emails in the midnight hour just to ensure their event is up to par.

But sometimes, that 3 day holiday weekend is our chance to recoup, to organize, to wind our minds day, to do something for your event that we do that we can't necessarily explain (the reason you hired us), or to just BE a human outside of the constant everyday back to back calls, emails and site visits or research we have to do.

So to those that understand, your heart. ❤️

Fantastic show KevOnStage and That Chick Angel! Hearty laughs are the perfect ending to a great week. The perfect mix of holy and hood lol.

And I had great company!

From the event perspective side: Perfectly executed and structured, started on time, great crowd interaction, perfect duration of time, super entertaining and kept our attention, and super creative for a podcast show.

I really don't know how to attend events without thinking about the operations and production side, but I do still allow myself to enjoy and not focus on that the entire event. But the good things always stand out!

I follow them on the socials and listen to the podcast so I knew what to expect but it definitely exceeded those expectations.

And of course, I'm always giddy when they use a band to bring their shenanigans together. Dope inclusion!👏🏾👏🏾

Late RSVPers, folks who don't register on time-ya'll must really like to see pull out their hair😩.

Whether it's an event I'm coordinating or my own event, I always run into guests and attendees sending in their confirmations or getting their tickets late. It never fails. And I won't mention those who come to the door day of trying to purchase a ticket and mad because the at-door price is higher. Or the guests who don't so you figure they aren't attending and then they show up with a gang of folks with them.🤦🏾‍♀️

Let's all be better registrants and RSVPers in 2024, hmmkay?👌🏾
