MJ The Musical, was sooo much more than a musical! Had me tearing 😢 up thinking about all this legend must have endured mentally.

Aside from the tears, the smiles and laughter were definitely there because this cast was PHENOMENAL. Hit every note. Not one noticeable dance misstep. Production transitions seamless. ON POINT. And these NYC Broadway theater goers don't play. Almost every seat full in this huge theater and nobody got up to use the restroom or get a drink until intermission. The hostess said prior to it starting that if you don't get to your seat prior to opening act you won't be let in until the scene is over. I didn't want to miss anything!

Gave me a brief memory of the play I was in as a child before I even knew what acting was, that started my desire to act and take acting classes at my arts middle school, and how I snuck to Milwaukee High School of the Arts to live vicariously through my friend at the time because I wasn't allowed to go there. The memories! I wonder where I would be if I would have continued on🤔....

If you're in NYC, go see it!

2yrs ago this time, me and a wonderful team planned our first event for my brand . I wanted to show that women can come together, collaborate and not compete, and achieve a goal that was bigger than them. I also wanted to make sure to give them an opportunity to highlight their own businesses and projects.

As with any event, it did not go with it's hiccups but I wouldn't change any of it. It was what was needed to bring forth a vision, and although we were only able to get 2 done before I had to sit out for a bit, I know timing is everything. And I'm definitely planning accordingly for the future!

Folks think being late is being on time. But actually, these things can happen and often DO happen when you show up late for the party:

🎈 You miss out on the early giveaways or door prizes

🎈 Food is often first come, first serve and the later you are, the more you miss

🎈You miss out on easy networking and leaving lasting first impressions on people before the crowd hits

🎈It's harder to survey the room once more people start arriving. Early arrival gives you a chance to checkout the scene and plan an early departure!

I remember that time my friend surprised me with a digital invitation for a birthday weekend I was planning. I was hashing out the details with her and then she asked if that was the final plan so she could make sure she was available. A few hours later, she texted me a weekend invitation for me to send out to my peeps.

Now, I may get invites for other people's events through one of the free online invitation sites (and have used myself) but besides a or a business invitation, I haven't gotten a formal, personal invite in awhile!

The invitations I've seen in recent times have come in the form of a flyer sent out to the masses or a group text. Or you being told verbally you're on a guest list at the door.

Is this the new normal?😦

I'm still healing from trauma of events past😒, like that one year a handful of us put chair covers on over 500 chairs🥺. (If it wasn't for the event staff coming in earlier and having a little time to assist, I don't know what we would do!)

I said it often and will say it again: Folks don't understand the intricacies that go into planning an event. If you have only planned parties and just had people pay in advance or at the door and you made sure you had bartenders and a dj, and maybe some food-that's awesome and that takes some effort too. That's how I started.

But you gotta be crazy organized, crazy detailed, creative, able to lead, and so much more (or lead a team who can be all things) or be just plain crazy to have the patience and wherewithal to plan a great event!!

Y'ALL!!!

Ok, I didn't necessarily want to go to this year because it was so much energy going last year, but I also have to keep in mind that it was right after my surgery. Essence Fest is this week and I am having fomo! I soooo wish I was there. The concerts are going to be great this year. The festival itself I'm sure it's going to be fantastic and OMG I can't believe I didn't plan to go!! 🥺

All I can do is reminisce on last year from these photos and videos I have. I think we need to plan a fierce girls trip down to the next year. What do you think?🤔

2 national recording artists/groups. 8 🔥 DJs. Gorgeous models ripping the runway. Steppers set. Awareness for matters in the political arena. Live artist painting. Food (ya'll smashed that). Plenty of beverages. Lights. Smoke. 3 impactful gentlemen in our city. A dope team. And an even doper crowd of beautiful people who followed the dress code (mostly).

If that don't make for a great event, I don't know what does!

If you stay in the city and you didn't attend, gon' ahead and sit the summer out!

Another great event for the city. I would healthily argue with anybody who says these gentlemen don't put on some of the best entertainment events this city has to offer, whether it's collectively or apart. Thanks fellas for continuing to allow me to be a part of it. ❤️

Whether it's for a private gathering, a wedding, a party, or even a travel getaway there's a good way to create your guest list that I've noted here so you won't end up regretting inviting who you invited or paying for a meal for someone who never shows up.

🎈Have you ever formally invited people to your party or gathering and they not show up, after they told you they were? You created custom invites, they RSVP'D, you included them in the per person dinner count, and they were a no show? Or you are trying to get your plans together for a group trip and someone says they're not going after you have had your travel agent quote you on excursions for a set number of people? Creating that guest list in 3 parts can definitely help narrow down this risk.

🎈If you set a deadline and stick to it hard, and be ok if the friend you really wanted to attend doesn't respond in time, people will start taking your plans seriously. You are the one paying for things so if you can't count them, they can't come!

🎈Again, it's your budget and your money spent. If you don't want to invite your cousin's new girlfriend that is the 3rd one this year, stand your ground.

🎈Growing up, kids couldn't be in the room when the adults were in the room talking. If you don't want kids at your event, make it clear and stick to it.

🎈And for those that have events made to the public where tickets were made available in advance, that "NO TICKETS AT THE DOOR" warning on your ticket page will either prompt them to get theirs early, or have to drive there only to be turned around at the door.

Today is the perfect day to say👋🏽!! And since it's a new month, I wanted to take a quick sec to re-introduce myself to some and introduce myself for the first time to others!

My name is Kisha, or moreso affectionately called Kish. 🎉 I am the owner/creator of Kish'D Entertainment Planning where I provide event and entertainment planning services. I am also the brand creator of the dope brand which was created to inspire women. I will be celebrating 6yrs for both of these this summer! 🎉 I am also a travel advisor where I plan trips (vacations, corporate retreats, family reunions, weddings, etc-see the crossover here😉) for those who want to travel around the world. I prefer to sit on the over being at a party, oddly, and I'm being more intentional about being productive and not busy this year. I love Dove chocolate candies an ice cream parlors. I ❤️ pizza!! I'm simple, but don't underestimate me. I consider myself to be super responsible. I don't care to argue or debate, and would rather practice effective communication to get the job done or problem resolved. I have a low tolerance for nonsense and would just rather live, love, laugh and enjoy life.

When I plan, coordinate, or manage events, I like to say that I do not just plan events, I create and I like to leave the KISH stamp on my clients events, giving them the Kish experience of great service, communication, understanding, and uniqueness. I work best when my clients are cooperative but can get the job done under pressure. I am looking to do something BIG and different for my event planning journey soon. Funny how yesterday I did a post on the FIERCE IG page saying sometimes I believe for things that some people would call me crazy for. Then I got in the car and a song was playing that caught my attention; it said "Today everything changes". That was after I left an appointment and prayed for a blessing that only God will get credit for. At the end I said, "God, I'm asking for alot. Just do whatever you want!"

Then I see Tab in the Fierce Unapologetically shirt.

It's more than her wearing it because she's a celebrity, or folks going online to the FIERCE Shop to purchase.

It's a reminder that God is always listening and He gonna do what He wanna do, WHEN He wants to do it. He's for real always on time!!🙌🏾

I have realized, or been reminded rather, about some things lately when trying to work with others to get business done. There's a lot of folks that aren't good at it.🤷🏾‍♀️ Whether they are rude, classist, unaware, or just plain don't care, it seems I have ran across alot of them lately. 1 bad day, maybe, but repeated offenses with no action to correct and rectify once made aware is a no go on business for me.
