One of the last arrangements of the season, now the countdown begins! Looks like next weekend is a pretty sure hard frost, so this week is all about getting things prepped, pulled, labeled, and cut back. Or... brought inside... aka our home is now a conservatory.

Getting close to wrapping up the 2023 growing season! Even if frost is a ways away for us, things are definitely slowing down (which means many new tasks are on the list). This was our first year growing exclusively in Minneapolis, and I'm already brainstorming ways to adapt our space for next year.

This also means my other favorite season, "dried flower season" is just around the corner!

Zinnias are notoriously bright colored, but recently folks have been working on pastel shades. I was not one of those people, until I was gifted some amazing seedlings from a neighbor! So now I'm one of *those* people who are hand-pollinating and trying to isolate certain colors, so I can save seed for next year. !

Things are growing over here! Including our 5-week-old cuddley chickens (in their awkward teenage phase), double snowdrops, a colorful spring container, and the Magnolia tree!

I've got dahlias on my mind! This one is a Cafe au Lait Royal. Unfortunately, I failed to successfully store my dahlia tubers the last two winters (3rd time's the charm, right?). The plus side is that I get to collect new tubers for the upcoming summer!

Not sure which one I'm more excited about? The one on the left is meant to be dried - once it's hung upside down for a few weeks, should look gorgeous all winter. This week, our CSA subscribers got bonus driable bouquets as a final thank-you. We can't wait for next year 🎉

We still have loads of flowers, and I'm slowly shifting over to making more dried things in preparation for the chilly seasons up ahead. Let us know if you have any flower needs!

Second to last CSA bouquets are going out today!

Featuring sahara rudbeckia, mahogany splendor hibiscus, zinnias, carnations, sweet Annie, goldenrod, ground cherry foliage, lisianthus, statice, butterfly snapdragons, strawflower... and probably a few more things tucked in!

The lisianthus have started to make an appearance! I planted these from seed in JANUARY... I was debating on whether or not they're worth growing next year, but after looking at these blooms, they're totally back on my seed order!

Sometimes there are these awkward in-between phases - like right now, spring bulbs have faded out and it takes a bit of work to scrounge together a bouquet like this (though we're right on the cusp of peony season!). And CSA season starts in just a month!

But until then, this bouquet is for all of us who are really feeling that "in-between season" of life. May you find beauty.

Bouquet includes: peonies, lupine, baptisia, bleeding hearts, ferns, sweet william, candytuft, various alliums, and my favorite bearded iris ever.

And like that, winter turned to summer? Feeling tropical over here as I put the finishing touches on our farm layout and prep for another round of seed starting.

Oh, and this is a tulip! Not your traditional shape, thats for sure. More tulips are just starting to crack open, let me know if you need any to brighten up a room!
