Tapestry Folkdance Center introduces people of all ages, abilities and ethnicities to dances and cultural traditions from around the world. Located in Minneapolis, we provide direct and meaningful dance experiences that weave together cultural awareness, appreciation and community.

Join us THIS Wednesday!
During this two-hour Haitian dance and culture workshop, students will focus on “Banda” dance. The banda has its origins in the rural communities of Haiti, where it emerged as a celebratory dance performed during agricultural festivals, religious ceremonies and social gatherings. Its history is closely linked to the resilience and creativity of the Haitian people, reflecting their cultural identity and collective spirit. Banda is associated with the celebration of the dead in Haitian culture.

Fèt Gede with Afoutayi, November 13 from 6:30-8:30pm
During this two-hour Haitian dance and culture workshop, students will focus on “Banda” dance. Participants are encouraged to bring comfortable dance clothing for ease of movement. Suggested colors are black, white and purple. Please bring a cane or long stick to learn some important Banda techniques with props. The course is open to all levels. ONLINE LIVE CONCERT - DUNQUIN ON FRIDAY, JUNE 25, 2021: 7:30 PM

Dunquin Irish trio is Sherry Ladig (piano), Don Ladig (flute and whistles), and Rosa Wells (fiddle). Together for fifteen years, Dunquin plays traditional music of West Kerry in Ireland and the band has branched out to other Celtic music and even Scandinavian music. The town of Dunquin in County Kerry was a major embarkation point of Irish emigrants to America; hence our name reflects a strong Irish-to-American connection. Dunquin performs at festivals and events in Minnesota and Wisconsin, including the Minnesota Irish Fair and several historic sites. Dunquin presents several concerts every year and is available for weddings, parties and celebrations of all kinds.
