The last few weeks my energy was starting to dip. After a stomach bug and lots of kiddo fun, I was feeling DRAINED. My instinct was to reach for more caffeine, but I remembered the easy hacks that helped me in postpartum.
After just a few days of implementing these 6 simple habits, I noticed I woke up more rested and was able to sustain throughout the day without needing more coffee or a nap.
Here’s what worked for me:
-Delay (or skip) caffeine - By delaying your morning coffee just an hour or two, your body knows to produce cortisol (the good stress wake-up hormone) on its own rather than relying on an outside stimulant. Opt for decaf post-wake up if you don’t want to give up the ritual.
-Heart opening yoga poses - Check out my latest reel on the BEST go-to poses for waking up the body by stretching the front line of the body.
-Drink more water - When in doubt, water. With the recent air quality challenges, our bodies are working extra hard to cleanse the toxins. Give it some love and add in more hydration for cleaning out the body.
-Get sunlight in the morning - My tried-and-true tip for literally everything. Challenge yourself to get into the morning sunlight within 20 minutes of waking up. This sets your circadian rhythm into motion and provides much needed energy for the entire day.
-Take a cold shower - This one isn’t for everyone, but a little cold therapy goes a long way in producing natural energy. An easy way to do this is to blast yourself with 90 seconds of freezing cold water after your hot shower. Best to do this in the morning or early afternoon as it is very stimulating.
