Before Saturday's Yacht Rock on the shores of Lake Minnetonka! at Back Channel Brewing, join us live tonight on The Current at 10pm central for a nice primer of Yacht Rock.
Although Transmission tends to focus on the classic alternative artists of the worlds of punk, post punk, new wave, synth pop and beyond, a couple of times a year — especially when summer officially hits — Jake Rudh likes to smooth things out and dive deep into the waters of Yacht Rock. And that's exactly what we're going to be doing this week on the program. Transmission — not exactly exciting and new, but please come aboard; we're expecting you. Listen Thursday at 10 p.m. CDT https://thecurrent.org/listen
Congrats Richard Blade Page!

Based on the Cubs game he, Cameron and Sloane attended, Ferris Bueller took a Day Off on this day in 1985.
This week on Transmission, it's all about side projects of the classic alternative era — and there were a lot! Some of which are still with us today, like Tones on Tail and General Public, both of which Jake Rudh saw at the Cruel World Festival a week ago. So if that post punk, new wave and synth pop sound is your jam, you're gonna especially like the vibes this Thursday night at 10 CDT on Transmission. https://thecurrent.org/listen

I didn’t grow up in Southern California with the iconic KROQ and legendary Richard Blade introducing me to many of my still favorite bands and artists today, but I have been listening to Richard and the classic alternative satellite station 1st Wave -- XM 44, XM 33 Now since it hit the airwaves years ago. After reading his inspiring autobiography “World in My Eyes” and seeing what he has done and still continues to do in his career is beyond influential to me. Thank you for the birthday shout out, the music you stand behind and your drive and authenticity…it’s truly an honor to call you a friend. Here’s to continuing to fly the great big sky, see the great big sea, kicking through continents and busting boundaries!
