There's only one more day left to vote for Best Arts District! If you've already voted, that's OK, you can vote once per day, so please do so again! (Link is in the comments below). While this might seem like a trivial thing, to those who pour their hearts out making art and trying to make the NE Arts scene as vibrant and successful as it can be, things like this help on so many levels... Every single vote helps tremendously!!!
In case you're wondering what makes this Arts District so great and unique...
1. We have over 500 working artists working in studios all within a few mile radius.
2. Many of the artist studio buildings are repurposed manufacturing buildings each with it's own flare and character.
3. Many of the main studio buildings, which house tens if not hundreds of artists, are regularly open for amazing monthly art crawls and tours.
4. The largest open air studio tour in the country takes place here each May (Art A Whirl) and attracts tens of thousand of people into the neighborhood for art, music, food and libations... It's a 3 day party unlike any other.
5. Along with the studios, art galleries can be found throughout some of the bigger buildings and a few dotted throughout the neighborhood... One in particular, the Rogue Buddha Gallery, now in it's 21st year of business is located smack dab in the middle of the arts District... 🙂
6. While spending time in the District bopping around from studio to studio, NE is replete with amazing restaurants, bars, brew pubs, distilleries and the like. We also have amazing parks for chilling out and/or enjoying the view of the downtown skyline...
7. The Arts District is a massive economic engine whose revenue helps support the community and city at large.
8. And last but not least, the most important aspect to the NE Arts District is the people. The artists here are amazing and so many of them are gracious enough to let total strangers into their personal and private working space for regular monthly and yearly art crawls. Then there are the organizers and volunteers that keep this whole thing going, from the Board of the NE Mpls Arts Association to the board of the NE Mpls Arts District and the numerous volunteers that help both, the work they do and the value they add to the community and the city at large is incalculable...
So I hope you take a few seconds to go vote (link is in the comments below) and help the NE Arts District get some much deserved national attention.
Cheers!

Jana Rose knocked it out of the ball park with her photo booth! So much love and gratitude for everything she did to help make the Halloween Ball the huge success it was.

The Rogue Buddha Gallery has extended the submission deadline for the Mourning Glory Call for Art to October 5th!

This juried exhibit offers artists an opportunity to explore the occulted truths and countless mysteries that lie lurking behind that thin veil we call death. We invite you to present your interpretation on the subject, wether that be in defining what death ultimately is, what lies beyond (if anything), the process of dying or how it affects those that remain. We encourage you to surprise us and even challenge our own preconceptions of what “art about death” might just look like.

The guidelines and submission form can be found here: https://forms.gle/Gn17AcGy5hQnStjr6

You can also visit: https://roguebuddha.com/submission.html for a PDF version if you don’t use google docs.

We wish you luck as we look forward to receiving your submissions.

ABOUT THE PNA NORTHEAST

The PNA Northeast is a landmark building located in the heart of the NE Minneapolis Arts District on the corner of 13th Avenue and 4th Street.

Built in 1900, this iconic building was owned by the Polish National Alliance for just over 100 years. Look for their signature neon sign on the SE corner with the letters “PNA” boldly lighting the sky in red.

As of February 2019, the PNA Building has a new owner. In homage to their rich history and presence within the community, we are operating under the name PNA Northeast and will continue to refer to the building as such.

We would like to thank the Polish National Alliance for their years of service to the community and for their continued support of the locally owned and operated businesses who have rented retail space from them over the years. We are similarly dedicated to supporting locally owned and operated businesses that demonstrate a continued and strong commitment to serving the NE neighborhood and its residents.
