We're sharing a portion of proceeds from our Thanksgiving By-the-Box sales with Dream of Wild Health. This Minneapolis-based organization started as a small non-profit gardening program and has grown into a 30-acre farm in Hugo with a mission of restoring health and well-being in the Native community by recovering knowledge of and access to healthy Indigenous foods, medicines, and lifeways.

Please consider a GIVE TO THE MAX DAY donation and join us in supporting this outstanding effort, serving the Ashòògè (Apache), Ho’hou (Arapaho), WetAXkoosšteéRAt (Arikara), Pidamaya (Dakota), Ahéhee' (Diné), Pinagigi (Ho-Chunk), Miigwech (Ojibwe), Kherkhem (Tiwa), Chiokoe (Yoeme) tribes here in Minnesota

We grow seeds and leaders."We grow seeds and leaders," Dream of Wild Health Cultural Director, Ernie Whiteman, would often say as he reminded us of our purpose here on the farm. With your support, we grow strong leaders, rebuild indigenous food systems, and expand

Many Thanksgiving dishes we know and love feature ingredients native to the Americas, such as squash, pumpkins, corn, potatoes, sweet potatoes, maple syrup, cranberries, and pecans.

This year, we’re donating a portion of all Thanksgiving sales to Dream of Wild Health, whose mission is to revitalize health and well-being within Native communities by restoring access to traditional Indigenous foods, medicines, and cultural knowledge.

As we celebrate 20 amazing years, we want to highlight the incredible people who make Chowgirls thrive. Today, we’re shining the spotlight on Nethanya, known by many as Yubba, who’s been a vital part of our team since 2012.

From day one, Nethanya jumped in with leadership across multiple roles—scheduling our Front of House team, moving into Sales, and managing all operations at our Solar Arts Venue. Now, as our Director of Operations, her passion for creating systems that empower others to succeed is unmatched.

Nethanya is the kind of person who can drop everything to support the team when it matters most. We’re incredibly lucky to have her as a friend, colleague, and leader. Every company needs a Yubba.

Cheers to 20 years! 🥂

Our service and offerings have always been evolving, and so has our brand!

From day one, Heidi and Amy knew they wanted to start with a strong brand. So they worked with Minneapolis font designer and Amy’s graphic designer brother to create the original cowgirl-inspired Chowgirls logo.

Over the years, many other designers—including , , , and —have collaborated with us to adapt our brand to the times.

In 2022, of guided our brand expansion to offer exciting sub-brands that highlight the variety of services we offer and shine on the heart of our work. Swipe to see how our image has evolved through the years, from our roots to where we are now!

As we’ve experienced in our 20 years of Chowgirls, we have the ability to make a difference in the lives of our families, friends, and communities. It’s more important than ever for us as a business — and as a collective of individuals — to make small impacts every day: treat each other with dignity and love, support our neighbors, volunteer in the community, and buy from local businesses.

Inspired by Zingerman’s co-founder Ari Weinzweig’s writing on Dignity, we share this sunflower — the Ukrainian national flower, a symbol of hope, peace, and resilience.

The scariest part of Halloween isn’t ghosts and goblins. It’s the way it contributes to climate change! Halloween is one of the most wasteful holidays in the US. Americans trash a billion pounds of pumpkins and 35 million Halloween costumes each year, in addition to spending $2.36 billion on plastic decorations that end up in landfills.

Check out these 5 tips from Chowgirls sustainable party pros for a Halloween that’s both eco-friendly and fun!

Cheers to 20 years! 🥂

In 2017, we took a big leap by purchasing Joseph Catering to acquire our new headquarters at 336 Hoover St. NE

After seven years of expanding into three storefronts on Second Street in Northeast Minneapolis’ Sheridan neighborhood, it was obvious Chowgirls needed a bigger home. We found the perfect space in 2016, and with the acquisition of Joseph Catering, we built out our dream headquarters at 336 Hoover St NE. We moved in 2017 – just in time for a growth spurt with the upcoming 2018 Super Bowl in Minneapolis.

Our open-house celebration featured live paella-making, specialty cocktails, an ice cream cart, and our own empanada food truck in an al fresco setting.
