Lydia and Tyler tied the knot at The Essence Event Center on a picture-perfect October day. For anyone in a relationship with a partner in a different…well…”ecosystem,” you’ll understand just how significant Tyler and Lydia’s presents to each other were. Tyler not only gifted Lydia an Apple product, he also gracefully accepted Lydia’s present (an iPhone). Yep, that’s true love folks.
The morning was full of fun, starting with our meeting Lydia’s mom, who was walking around with “tiny hand” props for reasons we did not understand, waving us into the room. Down the hall, the groomsmen had a bar in their room along with many games of chance. Given their excitement, I assume they were playing a casino type game, but it might’ve been high-stakes yahtzee.
Lydia and Tyler’s heartfelt vows left not a dry eye in the house, and we felt privileged to capture such raw emotion. With everything going on during a wedding, I think it’s sometimes hard for people to stay in the moment, but Lydia and Tyler were so clearly present.
At the end of the night, a wild dance party ensued and everyone danced their tails off. Lydia and Tyler, thank you for having us there to capture your special day. Congratulations!

Recently, we had the privilege of documenting the wedding of Lexi and Ben at the enchanting Fields Reserve venue. In his speech, the best man painted my favorite picture of the night when he said:
“Ben is motivated and driven. So driven that he drove all the way from Iowa City from Huston to follow the love of his life. I like to imagine Ben driving down the highway in the middle of the night in a two door rusty pickup; I think, one eye closed shut from allergies, like he’s a love pirate.”
Lexi’s maid of honor had this to say about her: “Lexi has always been the responsible one. She’s very stable, she works out regularly, she excels in her career, she flosses.” (Followed much knowing laughter.) “She is also a master of clear, direct communication. She and Ben made long distance work because they saw their future together.”
Seeing them together among their friends and family, their connection was so clear. Ben’s best man also talked about how they would sit together for hours on the phone, whether silent or speaking, just so they could learn more about each other’s daily life while they lived in separate cities.
Ben and Lexi, congratulations and we’re so happy you wanted us there to capture all the joy of your day!

These two chose Bunker Hills as their location and we were ecstatic!
We camped at site 16 last year and I remember seeing so many spots that I would love to take photos someday - as fate would have it, site 16 was available and we were able to take Panny and Brian on our dream walk!
As photographers, one of the most rewarding experiences is being able to capture photos that will still be meaningful for decades. Recently, we had the pleasure of photographing Ari and Matt’s engagement session in the charming town of Stillwater, and it was truly gorgeous. From the breathtaking sunset to the sentimental locations, every moment was filled with significance and beauty.
Ari, with her impeccable taste, had chosen Stillwater as the backdrop for their engagement photos due to its charm and timeless beauty. But little did she know just how serendipitous this choice would turn out to be. During our car ride from downtown to the park, Matt reminded her it was actually where they met up for their first date.
RIght now, that first date might feel like a distant memory for them; so much has happened in their relationship and they’re about to get married. But I like to think that someday, when they’ve been married for years, they’ll look back on these photos and strongly remember their first meeting, the first meal they shared, and the first jokes they laughed at.
Our journey began at the iconic Hotel Crosby, a place that held a special significance for Ari and Matt’s family. The elegant architecture and classic ambiance created an exquisite backdrop. As we sat at the window table taking in our surroundings, Ari and Matt looked right at home with the familiar sights, lending an air of nostalgia and romance to the images. During the session, we took a little extra care to capture the intricate details of Ari’s engagement ring. Matt had designed it as a surprise, blending both their birthstones into a unique, asymmetrical design.
As the golden hour approached, we made our way to a scenic spot outside the city. The sky transformed into a breathtaking canvas, painted with hues of red, pink, and purple. It was the perfect setting for Ari and Matt. We even had a little fun with a silhouette that turned out strongly reminiscent of a Gone with Wind that ended happily in a field in Minnesota.
Ari and Matt, thanks for coming out with us to enjoy the sunset, and thanks for braving tick season in tall grass. You chose such a beautiful backdrop for your session and when you look back on these photos, I hope they intertwine the place and memories they represent.

There’s something magical about ringing in the new year with a celebration of love and an awesome party, and that’s exactly what Hannah and Dave did on their wedding day. The snow-covered streets of Minneapolis provided a picturesque backdrop for their wedding at The Whim, a charming and intimate venue that perfectly complemented the couple’s style.
But it wasn’t just the setting that made Hannah and Dave’s wedding so special. From their heartfelt vows to their thoughtful details, every aspect of their day was infused with love and personality.
As they stood in front of their friends and family, Hannah and Dave exchanged vows that were as sweet and genuine as they were. Their heartfelt vows moved everyone in attendance, as they promised to support, cherish, and grow together in their marriage.
After the ceremony, the newlyweds stepped outside to share a small celebration, popping a bottle of champagne and sharing a sip. It was a beautiful (if slightly chilly) moment that allowed them to soak in the joy of the day before rejoining their guests for cocktail hour.
During this time, we had the opportunity to interview guests “man on the street” style, in homage to Hannah’s career as a reporter. It was a fun and unique way to capture the excitement and energy of the celebration, and guests were more than happy to share their well wishes for the happy couple.
As the night went on, Hannah and Dave’s wedding proved to be a celebration like no other. The dance floor was packed, the food was delicious, and the love and laughter were palpable. When the clock struck midnight, the happy couple shared a kiss surrounded by their close friends and family.
Hannah and Dave, we wish you all the best as you begin this new chapter of your lives together – Congratulations!

Read about Hannah and Dave's magical winter wedding at The Whim in Minneapolis. From heartfelt vows to a fun "man on the street" interview, every detail was infused with love and personality.
Brittany and Tom got married on the campus of their alma mater, at The Chapel of St Thomas Aquinas. It was so great to follow them around to their old haunts, the lawn in front of the library, the arches, and finally the steps up to the Chapel. Much of their bridal party was at home as well. Usually you have to be careful that no one gets lost on the way to take pictures, but this group was like “yeah, I know that tree. Meet you at the corner!” They laughed and joked like they were on their way to class. I seemed to remember some “Office” references as well, further adding to the feeling that we stepped back in time.
Their reception at Nicollet Island Pavilion looked out on one of the last golden sunsets of fall. When we went out for pictures, I just remember hardly having to prompt them to do anything. They were so clearly mad about each other just standing out there in the sun on their wedding day seemed to light them up!

Brittany and Tom's special day as they tie the knot at their alma mater before celebrating their love at Nicollet Island Pavilion.
Mallory and John's wedding was a beautiful celebration held at Harriet Island Pavilion on a picturesque fall day. The bridal party walked the trails a little bit before the ceremony and ended up in an area that was positively golden.
The reception was filled with heartwarming stories about the couple, making it difficult for me to choose which ones to include in the video. One story that didn't make the cut was the best man's hilarious childhood memories, including the groom's prank of playing dead in the pool to get back at his siblings for ganging up on him. His brother also described John as a little reserved, but at the reception, he and his mom surprised everyone with an unforgettable dance. Mallory's sister shared an endearing story about how Mallory was so driven in high school that she and their mom intervened to have her take pottery class to avoid overcommitting to difficult classes. Little did they know that this tearful intervention would lead to Mallory's proficiency in ceramics, possibly related the her crafty streak that added to the beauty of the wedding day (She hand dyed some of the table decor to match the beams in the historical pavilion).
Lastly, a special shoutout to the amazing photographer Marissa Murdy, who was so great to work alongside, who found the golden wood, and lent her "veil in the wind" skills to the last shot of the film. Congratulations, Mallory and John!

This blog post highlights the beauty and heartwarming moments of Mallory and John's fall wedding celebration at Harriet Island Pavilion. From a golden bridal party trail walk to hilarious and endearing speeches, the reception was filled with unforgettable memories.
We were all standing by the fireplace in the front room of the Hutton House, waiting for Colette to come down the stairs for the couple’s first look. As we were waiting, there was some conversation about how Inder got to be so comfortable on camera. He started a bit, saying how grateful he was that the photographer left the camera with him the night before so they could really get to know each other. “That intimacy can’t be forced: it has to be organic, you know?” Leaving us all trying to smother our laughter as we got ready for the first look.
I think the wordsmith thing is genetic because both Inder and his brother gave some of the best wedding toasts I’ve ever heard. Though there was a little bit of Inder-roasting on the part of his brother, he balanced it out with some of the kindest words of gratitude and praise for his big brother. This was an exceptional group of people and it was reflected in the ceremony, the toasts and especially the dancing (which everyone did with very comfortable feet).
Inder and Colette, we are down to shoot your wedding again anytime and hope to see you at Costco!

A wedding film at The Hutton House in Minnesota by Eyetography. Colette and Inder's wedding so beautiful and genuine.
It was so great to capture the Garr’s again at Bavaria Downs! As we knew from Sarah’s sister’s wedding – this group really knows how to have a dance party. And we also got to see another show-stopping Father/Daughter dance!
Aside from the faces we recognized, there was one new fuzzy face we hadn’t seen before, little Cosmo, the dog. A very quiet, well-behaved guest who came to the celebration in a little tie. There were so many amazing things about this day, but I will never forget Cosmo’s face because I thought I had just met a stuffed animal come to life. Seriously, I gave a little internal jump when I saw his head move.
My favorite part of the day though were Sarah and David’s private vows. I love that private vows are catching on. For anyone who is nervous about talking in front of groups, but still want’s to take advantage of the day to say what they feel, they’re a great option. And Sarah and David’s were amazing – both funny and sweet; I’m so glad we were able to capture them!

We had so much fun with Abby and Stephen at Loring Park! We popped champagne and almost made a new random friend (which will happen when you pop champagne), and we waaay over-shot pictures of Abby’s amazing ring.
When we get really excited about things, we end up with a lot of pictures of it – usually it’s dogs, but in this case, Abby’s ring is an heirloom that belonged to her great-aunt. We’ve seen some beautiful rings, and some that have specific designs with personal significance, but it’s so meaningful just to have a piece of jewelry passed down from a loved one. I hate to quote Devil wears Prada, but I keep hearing Nigel saying it’s “greater than art, because you live your life in it.”
It’s so cool that this piece of jewelry that she’s making memories with every day may someday be handed down to another family member, who will then have these photos of Abby wearing it! You can see why we shot it a lot!

The color at Mallory and John's wedding was so amazing it deserves its own moment. Mallory dyed the cloth on the centerpieces herself to match the beams inside Harriet Island Pavilion. She brought the color into the florals and on this day, the hydrangeas outside happened to be turning the same color as well.
